Weird emails I've been getting

I got your contact address from my Personal Assistant
who is in charge of data collating/collection.
Please, I do crave your indulgence to permit me to
humbly introduce to you my request for your kind
gesture to urgently help me to save some funs.

In the course of carring out one of the many statutory
obligations of my office, I have uncovered the sum of
fivethen Million,three hundred thousand US
dollars ($15.3m) which is the proceeds of an over
invoiced local contract executed in the final days of
the regime of our late Military dictator General Sanni
Abacha. Substantial investigations have proved that
some top officials of the Federal Ministry of
Petroleum Resource had done this in concert with their
cronies in the Presidency of that regime.

On the strength of this letter, I want to believe that
you and I can work together to realize my dream of
successfully contesting the Presidency of my country
when the present democratic dispensation elapses by
2003. As soon as I get your positive response, the
fund could be moved to any nominated account of your
choice barring any obstructions. The fund can not be
wired for security reasons therefore a special
arrangement is already made between the Governor,
Central Bank of Nigeria and my humble self for it to
be withdrawn and sent to any of your recipient banks
abroad.

If you wish to co-operate with me, make it a point of
duty to land your self in good and irrevocable
understanding and friendship with me by writing for
details. I shall respond accordingly.

ok...This is obviously prank? Uh.. ok. The thing I want to know is why? Why are advertisers sending weird emails like this? ER well..thought it was weird. wanted to know what you guys thought.

It's a scam. Actually, I think Nigeria is the world's leader in scams...meaning they bilk the world(or maybe just the US) out of more money than any other country. I saw something on 60 minutes about it a year ago. This is the standard scam where they want you to "hold" a large sum of money and they promise you will get to keep part of it in return for giving them access to your bank account OR sending them a little bit of money to get the transfer started (I forgot which it was). Reply to the letter and see what they say next...I think the next letter is where they ask for you to pay some money for some reason or another..

I think it was the FBI who did a sting on one of these scams..a person reported the email and played along until he was supposed to bring cash to a hotel..when he brought it the FBI was waiting to catch the guy who was going to take it. Fun to watch.

I remember basicly the same thing. Its like the Fortune Teller who reads your palm and tells you your money is cursed and needs to be cleansed. You put your money in a white handkerchef (sp) and give it to them to cleanse. Of course they switch it with paper folded in the white handkerchef and have you bury it for 3 weeks, so the blessing will work. You open it and find your screwed. Sorry Maxwell, I am not sure I would respond at all. The sooner they go away the better.

Maxwell.. If you think thats bad you should see my email inbox! I get any where from 20 to 30 junk email every day.. and thats WITH 250 email addy's blocked! Most of them pr0n but i do get some scams too.. do what I do.. just delete them and not look at them!

lmao... i got a similar letter once, and they actually had my real name?! but i set up a bot at one point that automatically replies to spam emails and sends the topic as "Remove". The next day i found that the bastard responded saying that he is for real, so i let the bot take over a couple more times untill i just got pissed beyond control... Then i sent that Ahole the most humilliating email ever (i wish i still had it to show u guys, but i lost it when my Hard drive currupted itself) but eventually he never responded back, either he found that i was hopeless, or he was emotionally disturbed, i just hope that nigeria doesn't take over the world, cause then im sure ill be on his hit list.
