Post New map in progress - DM-1on1-Armiger!

Look at the description for more info. It might be my personal best, but then I've said that about most of my other maps that have bombed....try it and tell me what I could do to liven up the map a bit.

Exclamation Hey!

I don't mean to sound mean, but I'm talking to myself here, it looks like. Please tell me what I could do to make the map look better, oh please!

Exclamation I'm STILL talking to myself!

If I don't get a reply in the next 24 hours or so, I will finish the map with no suggestions and release it.

just from the screenies it looks like you still only use blocks. Didn't look like there was any z-axis either. You should really try to start using the 2d editor and/or vertex editing. Also, when you do things like using a cylinder to subract a hole in a mountain wall, it looks VERY ugly. You need to either need to put a man made structure (such as metal trim or a door or something) or make it look more like a natural hole bye using the 2d editor and vertex editing.

No offense, but I just don't test your maps anymore so I got this from the screenies.

Post Vertex editing....

....is still a pet peeve of mine. A BIG one...it keeps cutting holes in my map and therefore f***ing it up. How can I use it in a way that it doesn't do it? And 2d editor...is it just the 2d view in UnrealEd?

C'mon, guys, I wanna be successful and have a good name in the mapping community, that's all.

click the red triangle outline button in the editor. that is the 2d editor. Vertex editing takes practice to understand what will or will not cause errors.

to be honest, i haven't seen much progress in your maps, you really need to stop being content with just using squares and cylinders.

Re: Vertex editing....

Regarding vertex editing: try to keep the shape you edit as simple as possible. You can actually build fairly intricate designs by vertex editing simple cubes. Never try to put two vertices in the same spot - that usually results in a crash. Keep everything on the grid, avoid very sharp angles and cluttered vertices... and rebuild geometry as often as possible.

If you see a BSP error, the best thing you can do is usually delete the last brush you created, and start over.

visual improvements on your previous maps are evident. however, map still has many dead ends, which break up flow.
