Who needs to pirate software with a (Free) list like this? - Page 2

Yeah, nice list. As far as system utilities and things like that, you can get pretty much everything you need as free software. When it comes to games, you really need to shell out the $$$.

Also, you could add Gaim(http://gaim.sourceforge.net/) and xChat(http://www.xchat.org/) to the list. Gaim is an open source IM client, and xChat is an open source IRC client. If you want xChat for free, you'll have to use version 2.0.10c, which was the last free version, or you can find an alternate build of the current version out on the internet. And I know most IM clients are free, but Gaim does pretty much all of the IM protocols, and its a better piece of software too.

Ownage! That's such a great list Radio! I gotta try a lot of those programs.

This one might be worth mentioning too: the Audio Conversion Wizard. I'm not sure what stuff the registered version is capable of, but the free version allows you to directly record the output of your sound card and convert it to a .WAV or .mp3 file, with a file limit of 90 seconds. That means, you can directly record all sound that comes out of your PC, without the need of placing a microphone at your speakers or something. It's a sweet little tool.

I like to use GoldWave for that. You can make any program you want record internally if you double click on your volume tray icon, go to Options > Properties, then click the recording radio button. Check that Stereo Mix is checked, then hit ok. It will bring up a recording panel instead of the output volume panel and you can then select stereo mix to record whatever output there is.

Bet you that option won't be around in Vista...
