Winamp 5 Full 5.2

from winxpcentral.com .......... Winamp is an audio player that can handle audio CDs, MP3 audio files, and streaming audio broadcasts. It combines extensive functionality with an intuitive interface. Winamp features a playlist editor and a 10-band graphic equalizer with user-definable presets that can automatically load specific files. It also includes Windows Media Technology 4.0 input/output support and the industry-standard Fraunhofer MP3 decoder. This download no longer includes VIS/DSP plug-ins; you can download them separately.

Winampplays MPEG Layer 2 (MP2) and Layer 3 (MP3) audio streams and Windows Media Audio (WMA), and combines extensive functionality with an intuitive interface. Winamp 3 revamps the entire idea of a skinning system by allowing developers to add entirely brand-new functionality within their own skins

Kindly enough though, Dorko... They have 2 modes on the newer ones... Classic, for older machines, and the new stuff... Much more powerful.

The classic is a small exe, while the newer stuff does take more...

Also note, that they fix a couple of huge security holes found in older versions... Specifically around the playlist functionality.

man, I must have completely missed version 4.
I loved 2, hated 3 and have been using random stuff ever since.
Maybe I'll check version 5 out.

I don't think there ever was a version 4; basically it was some silliness like Version 2 + Version 3 = Version 5.

Kingster, (or anyone else with version 5,) just take a look at the filetype associaction list (in 2 it was Preferences... Setup > Filetypes) and see if those extensions are mentioned.

Yeah, I still use Winamp 2.9 too. I suppose upgrading would be nice because of the increased library functionality, but I don't really need it. Its nice to be able to do the various sorting of the files in your music library, but it all depends on good data in the ID3 tag, which it seems like there never is. And who needs support for that many formats anyways? I've never seen half of those in use.

so, can you set preset volumes to individual songs with this thing? I hate listening to music in the background and having to adjust the volume.

Yes I've been waiting 2 years for them to answer my request to have auto volume leveling built in. (Yes I'm aware of the third party plug-in's and extensions (none work))

Both Windows Media Player and Musicmatch jukebox(best implementation) have auto volume leveling and have had for 2 years.

I use MM Jukebox at work for that reason. With the type of music I listen to, I can not have a quite track lead into a loud a55 track that burst out loud before I have a chance to throttle it. For that reason I use musicmatch jukebox at work.

You create a play list then select them all and right click and choose prepare for volume leveling, boom you're done no blair out's flame ups or none of that. Very very subtle differences, but usually too quite. Never a blairing track. it just works.
