Disney close to Pixar deal

Disney offers Pixar close to $7 billion in stock for an acquisition deal

can't say I didn't see this coming,

Ough, say it ain't so.

Edit: On second thought, this might be a great deal for Pixar. I forgot that Eisner was ousted, and apparantly Iger is doing something great to repair communications with Jobs. Disney needs Pixar more than Pixar needs Disney, so I imagine they have the power in this deal. Perhaps they'll be able to cut a distribution contract that's more favorable for them, while keeping the quality and talent behind their films.

Pixar's board still has to accept the deal, which they haven't come to a decision about, yet.

Yeah, the big thing here is the artists. Several of them were recruited or migrated from Disney, swearing never to work for the Mouse again. I know many of them and I can tell you it's no small problem. While it may be great for Disney and Jobs, I can see Pixar agonizing over this decision. Permanent distributor vs. keeping the best in the business.
