Sema 2005

Well, I don't know if its exactly gadgets-worthy, but the annual SEMA show is the biggest expo for new car tech and gadgets, from aftermarket manufacturers and automotive companies.

For starters:
Mitsubishi showed a special version of the new Eclipse using the Lancer Evo drivetrain (AWD, turbo 4-cylinder making 400 hp)

Pontiac had a club racer version of the Solstice, with a hardtop, revised bodywork, and a 300+ hp turbo engine.

For more info on some of the manufacturer cars at SEMA, see

Faet, think about how fast you can speed away from the scene of the accident (now: crime)!

You really dont NEED breaks if you think about it that way.

Brakes are for wimps anyways. And I believe on the SEMA Eclipse, they had a big ass set of Brembo brakes, so I wouldn't worry too much about stopping power.

Well, it was just a matter of time before someone did it

http://www.fast-autos.net/mallett/ma...8solstice.html

Mallett, a well known Corvette tuner, stuffed an LS2 into the engine bay of a Pontiac Solstice. End result, a lightweight, rear wheel drive, 400hp roadster with good handling. One of the sweetest cars I've seen in a long time, and I imagine the Solstice will see a lot of amateur racing.

hurts handling alot by putting all that weight in the front though. no longer "lightweight". also i saw it put in a Miata. yea the solstice will help some,, but their is alota mazda spec racing w/ the miata, its like 4k to get into, and w/ ~10k you can get a fairly competative car already setup. Its extremly popular in some areas. I begin driving school for PCA racing soon which im excited about

Yeah, the V8 in the Solstice is mostly just for tire smoking. If you wanted a powerful and balanced Solstice, you'd be looking at a supercharger or a turbocharger. Also Miatas have been around too long and were too popular to go away in amateur racing anytime soon, but I think a lot of the wealtheir folks will try out the Solstice just to be different frmo the crowd.
