Officer nabbed selling cop uniforms as costumes
DUBLIN, Ireland - Irish police have arrested one of their own officers on the suspicion that he has been stealing their uniforms to sell as theatrical costumes, state broadcaster RTE said Wednesday.
The broadcaster said the Dublin-based policeman is accused of stealing tunics, trousers, belts and shirts and selling them to someone working for a film or theater production company. "It is believed over 50 uniforms may have been stolen over the past few years," RTE said. A police spokeswoman confirmed that an officer had been arrested "in relation to the misappropriation of garda (police) uniforms."
