Hard Drive

In a fit of irrational exhuberance, me and a friend decided to start-up our own company. Being the "CTO" of the company, I had to do the development. Needless to say it went nowhere, and two years later, I have an extra disk, that has a linux installation on it that i'd like to reclaim for storage for all my excess pornography, games and pirated music.

But whenever I attempt to run FDISK and change my active disk, to the slave IDE drive, FDISK hangs on me. When I go into the BIOS setup, it recognizes the second disk. Anyone point me in a direction I can go to reclaim this.

Since it had linux on it before, FDISK may not recognize and / or be able to work with the partition types.

Boot to a linux disk, and run linux's fdisk. Delete all the partitions, the run the DOS FDISK.

If you don't have a linux boot disk, I'd be happy to send you one.

Throw Delpart on your Windows boot disk and it will clear a Linux partition.

Delpart is a little utility used solely for deleting partitions. You should be able to download it off the internet by running a search.

Or you could just run a low level format on the whole drive :P

Long, tedious, but should work.

instead of formatting the hd and slaving it off to your primary drive, do this...

buy a new case, vid card, sound card, mobo, cd drive, disk drive, network card...hook them all up, leave linux on it, network it to your old system. after all your stuff is on it, make it an FTP server and send me the IP =)
