warp zone
I have a warp zone. It works fine but when you near it a black square appears in it when you pass threw. Also tou cannot shoot threw it with the sniper rifle. Anything i am missing.
There was a map posted here before with warp zones in it lots of them. But they were flawless. The mapper was haveing some other problems. But cannot remember what. You know it? |

F-n-B is the local warp zone hero. I would suggest you PM him if no one else has the answer. He has a lot of experience with them and could probably tell you whats going on.
But I do not know the answer. Wierd that the only weapon that wont shoot thru is the sniper rifle???? I don't know. This is beyond my knowledge.

Well i just searched thru all the warp zone stuff here and not much help with the sniper problem. I am sure you know the other stuff. Fakebacdrop and other warp zones in view and there seems to be something about transparency too that may or may not be causing that black square. I say ask FNB. He is the expert and has probably dealt with this before. Sorry i couldnt help Good luck!!

The Sniper rifle, as well as the Enforcer, Minigun, Pulse Gun, ESR, and primary fire of the ASMD Shock Rifle, are 'hit-scan' weaponry.
The engine checks a straight line between you and the nearest BSP surface and sees if it hit any actors in between. The closest one in that line is registered as being hit. This scanning cannot take into consideration that the portal is a WarpZonePortal, and merely interprets it as hitting the BSP surface behind it. I'm toying with the idea if that if recoding the weapons to handle a warpzone portal is possible. The largest problem I see is figuring out just where it strikes on one side and where it exits on the other.

Dorkorama is right about the "hit-scan" weapons. The script traces a line from the weapon's location to the first thing it hits and a zone portal sheet is considered "level geometry" which will stop the scan from proceeding beyond it. It thinks it hit a wall or something and there's no way that I can think of to change that.
However, try your ASMD alt fire projectile and watch it go through the warp zone portal sheet and hit what you're aiming at. I think the bio rifle will also work in this respect as well as the rocket launcher and the ripper.I think the map you're talking about Master Roshi was made by Gluteus and he posted it in THIS thread and the map download is HERE.
