A new worm war may be brewing, the head of Moscow-based Kaspersky Labs' research efforts said Friday.

The battle is shaping up between rival cyber gangs over the newest turf, infectable PCs. "Some machines connected to the Internet are protected well, some are not," wrote Eugene Kaspersky in the anti-virus vendor's analyst blog. "They are 'infectable.'

Remove is an overly strong term, in this case. The article states they are merely deleting executable (.EXE) files that are suspected to be from a competitor.

Pretty soon, they'll realize that doing this severely affects the stability of a system, and will simply find ways of merey blocking competitve spyware. Then they'll have fun reclaiming the processing power that their own code needs. At any rate, it plays out like the Alien Versus Predator tagline : "Whoever wins, we lose."

Wow, that's pretty interesting. Hmmm, it seems to be getting more benifitial for the consumer. The power of all those virusses is IMO that they're hard to track down, with just one orginazation it will make it easier.

Someone should really invent a prog wich just bounces back all that CPU hoggen useless whateverware. I haven't found a suiting name for it, but I sure like the idea.
