Multiple power cores
1-Is it possible to have a map with multiple power cores? In other words, instead of one on each side, have 2 for example.
2-So, you could set it up, that if BOTH are destroyed, then you lose the battle, or you could get tricky, and make it so if one of the two is destroyed you lose... So you have to keep an eye out at all times. 3-OR, you could get really creative. Make a switch or something at a command post. When you hit the switch, one base full closes, and the other opens, and when u hit the switch again, one closes, and one opens. Kind of like DOM-Access, but with powercores....If ya catch my drift. 4-OR ( again), you could have a switch in the middle of the map, with no nodes. And then it would be like DOM-Access, but with powercores. Mainly the purpose of this thread is... Would it be possible for options 2 or 3 to happen? Ive always wanted to make an ONS map, but i never wanted to make a run of the mill one... AKA, typical. If 2 or 3 is possible, i might consider whipping up an ONS map in a week or so. ----In the pic: Purple would be the switch, and the two large circles would be the core. |

that is an awsome idea, but what about say four cores, but you go from one to the other or all at once, just all having different paths and differnt nodes, instead of all being linked at once?

And here would be another cool idea. Have them setup like this, with a switch in the middle, that switches the cores back and forth. Hit the switch once, and these two are vunerable. Hit it again, then the other two are vunerable. First team to have one destroyed loses, just like normal ONS, but it increases the gameplay. Or you could just switch it so first team to lose both cores loses. Either way it be fun. Last edited by superchaz216; 03-14-2005 at 05:25 PM. |

As soon as i get done with my 2 current maps, ill prolly consider it, if it still seems to keep me interested. Think about it, ... who wouldnt download an ONS map with multiple cores controlled by switches? I wouldnt wanna be the loser that gets left out of that bunch.

You may not be the best mapper on earth Chaz, but you sure think before you open the editor. That's what I like with you, you give every map you make a serius thought which is completely different from me!
Sounds like a very interesting idea, but I suppose that would require either a mutator OR a completely new gametype. |

Well, i used to just open it up, and start buildin crap... But they had about as much cohearance ( spellin) as a a drawing would if it was just a scribble on paper.
Im kind of like Lord_Simeon when i think about levels. Like he said, at any one moment, i have like 30 ideas floating around.... Sometimes its hard to choose which to do. And yea, im not the greatest... Frankly, im still a n00b at the UnrealEd. I can make a crap load of stuff, like ladders, decent pathing, decent layout, ...but hell, i dont even know how to make good movers, lol. Hopefully, within a half month, ill release the BETA of my harbor map, and you'll see that this multiple month long break from releasing maps has paid off. Ive made many concept maps, just testing stuff. Revising how i build, etc. Ive learned quite a bit in the last bit, ...like how to make decent terrain and such, etc. If i ever make an ONS map, i may just learn how to make this switch idea work! ( or have someone that can code do it for me after i make the map ) |
