highend3d.com has been a leader in the industry for a long time. This is their tutorial section.

You have to register to dl the video, but it may be easier to watch a video than to read an english tut. Ja? Wie geht's?

Gee found a pretty good beginner tut.
It`s for maya 4.5 but itīs pretty step by step.http://www.medialab.chalmers.se/tutorials/maya/ If you youst want to know how to create meshes start with lesson 5. All previous is "just" creating and animating a ball, but itīs fun so try it. |

Okay, not really a tutorial site, and not just Maya at all.
But, this is the biggest CG forum I've seen yet. Several hundred professionals and talented amatuers online at any one time. Loads of sections on each 3D package, including a huge one for Maya. (that's why I'm posting it here) CGTalk Forums At initial glace, this looks like a pretty wide range of questions are being asked, from novice (kinda) to highly advanced. (Good MEL scripting stuff, next gen graphics techniques, etc.) I'm sure this would be a good resource to search when all else fails, but it might be a little much for casual browsing.

Hey mango, how about you update your first post with all the links provided throughout the topic? It'd make searching for them a little bit easier, especially for newcomers here.
Oh, and I've been visiting CGTalk occasionally for a while and it features some of the purdiest 3D art I've ever seen. If you wanna see the kind of skills no sane person could ever attain, don't forget to look at the "3D art showcase". |
