There were some rather intensive firing between the synapses in my left and right brains last week and I suddenly become aware of the purpose of poems. Can someone introduce me to some easy to read and probably less subdued writers/works please. Thanks..

Try english poets. Tennyson, byron etc. They are considered the best. My favorite was e.e.cummings who I believe was American.

Water water everywhere but not a drop to drink.

I hated english class in high school but we read a ton of stuff.

For poetry, I would have to recommend No More Masks which is a collection, or anthology if you will, of women's poetry. It's not as hard to read as say Four Quartets , yet just as powerful.

If you want simplicity, try Emily Dickinson. Of course, the problem with her poetry is it can all be sung to the tune of "The Yellow Rose of Texas".
