Anybody ever read Alan Dean Foster or Piers Anthony?

I was looking at these forums, mad at myself because I don't read as much (paper reading that is) anymore.

I used to get absorbed into books by Piers Anthony and later Alan Dean Foster's Spell Singer series. Yea Yea tell me how gay fantasy is. But I loved those kinds of stories the amount of imagination and creativity that went into those books drew me in hard.

Anyone else ever follow either of the 2?

Use to. I really don't find myself reading much other than the weekly "The Economist" and monthly "Reason". Spend more time on video games that recreational reading these days. When I go on vacation I'll usually put away a book.

I read Piers Anthony's Xanth books... up until the 7th or 8th.

I also read through the one where the guy is shifting back and forth between SF and Fantasy worlds, and has to compete in that "game".

I was also a big fan of David Eddings series, The Belgariad.

Same here. I re-read the Belgariad and The Mallorean a few years ago and found it to be almost annoying, but I loved 'em when I was younger. The Piers Anthony series "Incarnations of Immortality: or something like that(1st book was "On A Pale Horse") was more mature than the Xanth series but not as much fun for me. edit-didn't see Kingster's post

That would not suprise me at all. I'm sure it's just a basic Cold War analogy.

However, I quite enjoyed the Belgariad first time I read through. Not so with the Mallorean. I had issues with the Mallorean from the go. I thought it kind of sucked when I was reading it.
