Anyways I am having trouble getting my ambient sounds to work correctly, when I add an sound emitter of the ambient sound, it distorst the sound fx, and the settings dont seem to work

Ambient sounds go to AmbientSound slot, while one shot sounds are added via sound emmiters. Do not use emmiters for ambient sounds. But it is true, if I added more emmiters to the same AS, they overlapped; when I placed one AS per one sound, it was a lot better.

Which setting doesn't work? Otherwise, there is a sound tutorial at UDN, it is under example maps.

thanks for the tutorial, but it didnt help.

what I need is to have multiple ambient sounds that go off at different intervals using the same sound fx. But right now when I place a bunch of them in the the level, they all go off at the exact same time, so it sounds like there is only one ambient sound.

Huh, you mean "one shot" ambient sounds? Like rattling or something? There is a setting for every sound emmiter that defines frequency and random offset. Are these the settings that don't work? I admit that I haven't fiddled with that to a great extent.

well I am just confused I supposed...

I have a TON of emitters that are going off at intervals and then at a random time that goes up to 12 sec or so..

I need the sound effects to go along with them for the most part, I thought the sound emitters could work similar, but it is looking bleak, ut2k3's sound system seems very low tech compared with everything else

Your saying that sound emitters are 1 shot deals.. but I need them to go off at different intervals (and not sound crappy).. is this not possible???

Sound Problems

I am having a similar problem, I guess.
I am making a map of a Dragstrip with 2 cars that go down the track fast and back up slow.
I tried to put and ambient sound (Car idling) and an opening sound (Car screaming) and closing sound (Car Idling).
When i go in the map i hear them Idling, when they are triggered u hear them scream then nothing.
I am not good at this sound stuff. Anyone got an Idea how i would do this.
I would really like this to be heard all through the map as well if possible.

Don't use ambient sound along with opening and closing sound, it won't work, you have to use loop sound instead. Ambient sound incorporates everything - closing, loop and opening sound and appropriate sound has to be selected respectively (that menas one that already has everything), whereas by using other slots, you can achieve more variations through combination.
