Custom Static Meshes

Question: If have either downloaded several meshes or created custom meshes of my own, do I need to create a mesh pack or can I add them to my map as single meshes?

If that doesn't make sense, how about if I dl a Boeing 747 mesh and wanted to add it to my map, how do I put it in there if it is in .3ds format versus creating a . usx pack?

I am going out searching the forums and net for answers but I will check back here as well.

Thanks for taking the time to help out.

You can open 3ds in 3dmax and export it to ASE file format which is needed to run in ut2k3.

If it is only one custom mesh you wish to use in your level, then you should import it into:

Package=myLevel
Group you choose
Name you choose

Everying in myLevel is saved inside the ut2 file, so no extra hassle with other files like .usx files.

In other news, warning labels cause anxiety attacks. Coming soon, a new "friendly" warning label will have a warning label that can be peeled off the real warning label. This new "peel and reveal" label will warn that the warning label underneath could cause severe anxiety if you read it. Please use with caution.

I am not absolutely sure, but I think the names of packages, groups and Statics are not allowed to have a blank in the name.

Just only to prevent some kind of errorsource.

greetings

Also, models you download are not textured for UEd, therefore they will import with the default grey blotch texture and look very wrong. You will prolly have to custom texture/texmap them.
