(un)speed
Do you think it would be cool to play without the speed relic on S1 for awhile to see if it improves the quality of CTF play?

Absolutely.
Relics suck as a whole for unbalancing gameplay, but speed is by far the worst offender. I can only take a few games with relics before I have to go and play on other servers where skill and teamwork win the battle - not which idiot grabs the belt/boots/speed combo and runs up the score. I love the community here and love the custom maps, but the relics (specifically speed) are lame. |

I like relix, and relix strategy, but on many maps, speed either 1) is almost a guaranteed cap (usually more than one) in the hands of an experienced player , 2) makes for long boring hide and seek games. Also, because of tick rate, most of what you see on your client is an estimation of where the player is, rather than their actual location. This translates into being MUCH harder to hit, over and beyond the fact that they are actually moving faster.
Unlike the axe, which is also powerful and can dominate defense on campable maps, speed has no counter. Axe is countered by Defense relic. A player with D relic going against axe sustains normal damage. It would be great if speed could be adjusted: 1.5x normal, for instance, to give the player some advantage, but not overwhelming. I know how to use speed most maps, and can usually reel off 2 or 3 caps (assuming my base is well enough defended; there is nothing more boring than running around a map for 5 minutes waiting for your flag to be returned, and STAY returned). I usually feel apologetic, because most of the time it really is too easy. I far more enjoy caps where I have nothing more than armor, if that, my wiles, and teamwork. |

Relics should only be used by skilled players. Rookies don't learn anything if they just get the Skull and Kamikaze in enemy base.
Also they are for teh "Laggy Membe|2s" like outdoor. |

Speed actually only makes a player 30% faster. I guess you probably should say 1.15x to 1.2x normal speed.
Anyway, what if everyone had access to all of the same Relics, being able to cycle through them? Would this even things out, or would speed still have an overwhelming effect?

I would lower the speed boost, and keep it. As is, it's too fast.

Mmm another one who is in the dark. Speed can be good but is far from the unbalancing relic that a few think it to be. For example my relic of choice is Defense, next is Axe, and next Health. Some where just above Redemption is speed. Speed may allow you move faster but I would much prefer other relics. I have found speed alomst useless against some players here. They can out run you using the xloc and some are so accurate that you would be better off with health or defense. Unless you are Kobe and shaQ and camp the SB.
And when in doubt one Shock combo and mr speed is mr dead. I have not found the speed unbalancing. If any one relic is unbalancing it is defense relic when the player is all stocked up with 199 health and 150 armor. If anything there should be at least one more relic that regenerates ammo. |

I was playing earlier and the guy on blue had the speed relic and I had the strength relic...he was moving so fast I could not keep up using my mini gun he killed me and was off to cap the flag..... I think your batteries are running low...replace as so not to be in the dwindling light .... that is all |
