Help me Choose?
So my buddy Carl is comin by in an hour or so and we're thinking of a movie. Problem is, there's more to choose from than usual.
Prometheus? Total Recall? Dark Knight? MIB III? I will trust in the power of UP. If I can get a last minute response ![]() ![]()

I've not seen any of these, so I'll try to keep my repeating of the opinions of others plain.
Prometheus - Don't go for the plot (or lack of plot holes.) It's a "monster popcorn muncher." Total Recall - I've heard little, but a reboot seemed unnecessary to me. Dark Knight (Rises, I presume?)- Heard it's good, not really any opinion if it ties the story up well or not. MIB III - Almost nothing has been said about it other than Josh Brolin does a fantastic job playing a younger version of Tommy Lee Jones' K. I think you know what to expect out of a MiB movie by now.

He got tied up with work last minute. We won't be going til Monday now which adds Bourne Legacy to the list!
Dorko I think we are pretty much in the same info wise. That's exactly what I know about them atm myself. Gonna have to flip a coin. Carl is leaning towards Total Recall so that may be the winner based solely off of that. I feel good about any of them at this point though.

Dark Knight is the best of the lot - IMO ( not great but not crappy either
) ![]()

I've only seen Dark Knight. Overall, it's pretty solid. It's entirely too long, I don't like some of the plot choices, .. but it makes up for both of those with Catwoman on the Batcycle.

I've seen them all, save BOURNE, which we'll see today.
Of the others: 1st choice: Dark Knight, especially if you saw the first two. If you haven't seen the other two installments, I might toss a coin with Bourne. 2nd Total Recall. I actually liked it. Total summer fluff but it's better than the original (and is a very different storyline than Ahnold's) 3rd: Prometheus. ONLY because it is a freaking gorgeous film to watch. The storyline is a nonstop adventure of rolling eyes and tedium and plot holes. 4th: MIB. It's better than the previous installment by a long way. But still unoriginal. |

Just saw Bourne. Largely derivative of the first three. Good enough. Literallya mostly plotless chase.

Prometheus - didn't see it, but I heard they broke all the rules of dealing with aliens in movies and the people were really stupid; I'll wait for this on DVD maybe.
Total Recall - didn't see it, reboot but cool in the previews; definitely see this one over Prometheus Dark Knight Rises - saw it and it was awesome, so this would be my first choice! MIB III - what? oh yeh, that one. Didn't see it, but will definitely wait for this one on DVD; possibly see this before Prometheus Bourne Legacy - I'm biased on this one as I just read the book about 6 months ago and this movie doesn't even have Jason Bourne in it. WTF! How can they f-ing do that? I'm not touching this one with a 50-ft pole and not even on DVD. ![]() So, based on all that here are my choices in order: 1. Dark Knight Rises 2. Total Recall 3. MIB III 4. Prometheus Let us know what you see and how you liked it. ![]()

The first three movies are barely like the books so you can't hold that against the movie. And JB is in it, in a way.
IMO the films are much better than the books which I find interminably boring with overloaded tech detail. |

I really want to see Dark Knight. I'm a Batman freak from when I was a kid. Carl not so much... Looks like we're leaning to Bourne and Total Recall.
I haven't read the Dick book but I HAVE read all the Ludlum way back when I was a teen and early twenties. I think Recall is gonna win out just for the Beckinsale factor lol ![]() Although Catwoman on a motorcycle sounds darn good too ![]() Hort as long as I have your ear was wondering if you could help me out. I remember there was a game in development about eight years ago? Maybe less. It was a couple of guys doing an RPG and it was right around the time the Valve Source got leaked and I remember making a thinly veiled allegation in my inexperience... Anyway, I totally regret that and have been wondering if that ever went anywhere. Do you recall the game I'm talking about? I haven't been able to come up with a search to nail it down yet.
