As you probably noticed, it's been released on 1st April.

The map is fully playable, but it's a remake of an UT GOTY map that wasn't very
well received on mapping sites (CTF-W00Tabulous by The_Gunslinger|DFB|). I took some
inspiration by another W00Tabulous remake, CTF-AllYourW00T-SE made by JohnnySix.
As most of you probably know, the map is meant to be played in InstaGib.
The conversion is pretty close, but I changed some stuff (mostly item placement)
to make it more playable also in normal CTF while keeping it InstaGib-friendly.

I tried to create also a rather decent-looking map. It might look busy from
screenshots, but don't worry, I worked a lot on visibility: set your Detail mode to
Low and most of the busy-looking stuff will disappear leaving a nice, clean playing
field.
The skybox comes from DM-Deimos, I changed it a bit to fit my map but it's almost
the same. In one week I didn't manage to create myself a decent enough skybox.

The recommended playercount is 2on2, but this map can carry from 1on1 to loads of
players, your choice.

Awesome stuff man! Love that you kept the wall in the bases - and threw in the obligatory necris tentacle.

I can't comment on gameplay, as I don't have UT3 yet, but rest assured ,it'll be the first thing I play when I do!

Fantastic

Just played it - it rocks.
Love the lifts - I assume without insta you snipe from there? I don't know if this was planned, but I lift-jumped from there, onto the platform kicker, and landed back at my flag at the same time as the route arrows - now that's a fast route!

Only 1 question - how do I turn off xLoc when I go Insta ... ?

Lifts are powerful, but also very dangerous since they give you a lot of air time (which results in being shot down quite easily and often cratering if you miss the jumppads). I was wondering wheter to leave them in or not, but I noticed that it takes less time to side dodge in the teleporter at the bottom of the map rather than liftjumping. Also, the lift entrances are small and it's not hard to shoot someone trying to go on a lift.

I don't know how to deactivate the Translocator, UT3 has very few settings unfortunately so probably you'll have to get some mutators to turn it off.

I'm glad you left them in - they're a high-risk route, but with a good reward if you get away with it.

Just had a thought - I've not had time to mess with the editor, but could you add a volume between the two bases that only blocks xLocs? That would be exceptionally cool - especially if they vanished when they hit it, rather than bouncing off.

Oh yeah - and having fallen off a few times - I like what you've done underneath the bases

I think Johnny's gonna love this when he gets to play it

I think it would be possible (only blocking, though, not destroying) altering collisions, but I don't think I will place such blocks as Xloc is used very often by bots (I know, this map is meant for online play, but I want it to be actually playable) and when you're using it you're totally defenseless (and it's very easy to notice a Xloc beacon and kill someone just teleported)

Well there goes my first idea for a UT3 CTF map. I even asked J6 if it would be alright by him if I remade this map (that was quite a while ago). I suppose I'm just glad someone remade it, as I had actually completely forgot about hunting down the original author for permission.

Looks great BTW, downloading now.

But where did you get the WOOT'F' from?

Something I've been working on the past few days:
Ignore the text at the bottom of the video, it's meant for people who don't know much about w00t.

So far this mutator:
  • Forces instagib.
  • Removes x-loc.
  • Increases jump height.
  • Increases dodge height/distance.
  • Allows for slope dodging.
  • Removes all pickups/bases except for berserk, invulnerability, invisibility, and jump boots.
