Hot sauce... that kills

from the SUN by way of the firing squad ...... A NEW chilli sauce goes on sale today that is so hot it could KILL.

Ultra-concentrated “16 Million Reserve” is the hottest science can make.

The sauce is 30 times hotter than the spiciest pepper and 8,000 times more fiery than Tabasco.

Diners must sign a disclaimer recommending “protective gloves and eye wear” — but even sweating testers in safety gear were blinded by tears for 30 minutes.

Just 999 bottles of it are on sale at £105 each. ( found it on the net for $199.95 )

Medical experts fear it could kill asthmatics or hospitalise a user who touches a sensitive part of the body afterwards.

It is made of a 100 % pure capsaicin, the chemical that makes peppers “hot”. It takes tons of peppers to make 1lb of capsaicin.

Creator Blair Lazar, 35, specialises in “extreme food” in New Jersey, US.

After trying it, he said: “It’s like having your tongue hit with a hammer. Man, it hurt.”

The sauce is named after its score on the chilli heat measure, the Scoville Unit.

Reserve scores 16 million units, while a Red Savina, the world’s spiciest pepper, measures just 570,000.

"Heat" can be good, but it's meaningless without a proper taste to accompany it. Capsaicin acts like a taste enhancer, because it "opens up" receptors due to being a powerful anti-inflamatory. (At least that's how I understand it.) The kick is just a nice touch.

Exactly, I know someone that makes hot sauce in the Tampa Bay area and has something called Experiment #13 and it's extremely hot AND it tastes good. He said any hotter and it starts tasting like crap. But this Experiment #13 doesn't taste as good as my favorite sauce of his called Fire In The Hole!

Well, the directions for the second hotest hot sauce in the world tell you to use one drop for five gallons of chili, so it IS useful. Kinda.

I bought a super-hot one for my best friend's mom, she used it as a pest control. Said it worked great.

True. I never thought of it that way. You use less hot sauce, for more amounts of food, which is pretty smart. So im guessing 1 drop of this would be great for about 25 gallons of chili.

1 drop vs. A few bottles.

Great thinkin!

Yep a dab 'll do ya! lol

However the name of the chemical that is in peppers that make them hot is spelled wrong it is called "capsicum". Cap-See-Come. Peppers are members of the deadly nightshade family of plants.

My brother grew some Jalapeno peppers one time and he had a wood stove for heating his house. He had an abundance of wood ashes and someone told him that wood ashes makes a good fertilizer so he dumped a bunch of wood ashes in his garden. It made everything grow wonderfully. He planted some green belle peppers too and he put a Jalapeno plant then 12 inches later a belle pepper plant then 12 more inches another Jalapeno plant.

Hehee! At the end of the season he took a big bite out of one of the belle peppers (belle peppers are not supposed to be hot) and he immediately spit it out and it left blisters on his tounge. Big red spots!. Needless to say you couldn't slice the skin off of the end of one of the Jalapeno peppers and keep it in your mouth much less swallow it!!!. The peppers were never eaten and made their way to the garbage dump. No one could eat them they were so hot. My brother kept a few of them and he would only cut off 1/8th of an inch of one and then cut that piece in half and dice it up. Then add only that much pepper to 2 gallons of chilli and the chilli was still almost so hot you couldn't eat it!. It would make you break out in a sweat after two bites!.
