I'm sure having difficulty getting the dds plug-in 4 photoshop to convert my textures to dxt to use in ut2003 ed.

Anyone using this tool and getting it to work right.

Had working a couple of times, but now grrrr.

I only use the plugin to import dds files into Photoshop to convert to bmp and use in Maya... for importing my texture into UEd I just import as a bmp in the texture browser, right click on the texture and select Compress/DXT#.

Hmm. I've tried that several times. In texture browser>import>select bmp in dialog.

But it does'nt show up in any packages I put it, or the groups. I've tried MyLevel as well as existing packages.

I've only been able to import .dds files. Does the bmp file need certain properties or sizes, colors etc. to pass through.

Man this is really holing me up.

thanks for any help.

Yeah I'm pretty sure the bmp's have to be powers of 2, though they don't have to be square or anything ( ie. they can be 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024.... in any combination for height and width, such as 512x128 etc ). It also has to be a 24bit bmp, not 8bit palettized I believe. If it doesn't meet these requirements, it just pretends you didn't try to import it, it doesn't give you an error message or anything. At least it doesn't crash it like everything else does. ;)
