ok.... who's on this dang.... i know BamBam is.... I just bought about a week ago... and it's all right if you wanna give your wrist a brake from UR... in other words... kinda slow... i was wondering who from here is playing the darn Natzi game.... the reason I bought it was cause I sometimes get bored with UR.. specially after 8hrs of UR... so i bought RTCW and Half-Life (wich i had but lost)... but 2 be honest.... there is nothing like UR CTF... I have most popular games... I have all Quakes...Half-Life.....UR.....RainbowSix...Tribes I and II...Giants ...etc...
StarCraft...Diablo I and II... and I even bought Flight Simulator 2002... and I can't wait for UR2 to come out... what good FPS or strategy game am I missing...

......and if im not on UR.. im making beats using Acid3.0 and other goodies....

i have a link to my mp3's....

I am currently working on RTCW; that why I'm not on Stealth as much as I used to be. RTCW/UT are both excellent games.
of course I bought UT and pir8ed rtcw.

My bro just bought it for me for Xmas. I'm a little worried that an Unreal and RTCW addiction may consume all my free time. I guess it's a risk I'm willing to take.

i got rtcw, but i was completely disappointed, too slow and not that fun... even the weapons where a little boring to use. Of course i didn't buy the game, i never bought a game in the longest time, maybe i shouldn't have said that!!:o

I like RTCW because you actually need a good team to win. And there are no "unber weapons", so you actually have to AIM and watch your ammo supply.

The only thing I dont like about the game is that there are so many newbies who only give a **** about how high their score is that your team cant win. Dumb ****s; go play DM and stay the hell off the RTCW servers...

Yeah Stealth. Keep the UT rocking. I am only on an extended break. I take those every few months from UT, but I always come back. It is STILL the best multiplayer game. It is incredible that it is still popular after three years. RTCW is fun, but it is very different. Much more of a team orientated game. It forces you to co-operate with other players. If you don't, you die.

Remember Viper(and all others interested in RTCW muliti) that this is a TEAM game. Individual scores dont matter. No matter what your score is, if your teams loses, then you suck...:D

Actually, if you understand the classes(and they are simple, really), you can function as a team quite well. Just remember it takes a team working AS a team to win.

Here is a quick run-down of the classes:

Lt. Ammo. GIVE ammo. Give ammo to others BEFORE you give yourself any. Call AirStrikes. Cover Soldiers/Medics. Be a good Lt...:)

Medic. HealthPacks. Drop'em all over the place. Go with the other classes and keep 'em healthy. Get lots of ammo from the Lts and go on a killing frenzy. Good class, Medics.

Engineer. Dynamite. Grenades(lots of 'em). Blow stuff up, or plant dynamite at choke points to scare off the enemy. On some maps you HAVE to have an Engineer to win.

Soldier. Guns. More guns. Can use any weapon available, including the Big 3(Venom, Flame-thrower, and Panzerfaust). Can drop and pick up any wep. Soldier+Venom@Choke-Point=DeadEnemy

Locational damage is part of this game; shoot'em in the head and you frag'em quicker then a shot to the foot.

If you have some good team-mates, its a blast. Communication is very important. Ink and I use BattleCom. It makes things much easier. If anyone wants to join us on a server, ICQ me at 5601008. I(or Ink)has the BattleCom sftwr, it rocks.

Wait, that doesn't sound quite right. But my brother is bringing RTCW over tonight, so I may hop on and check it out. Looking forward to it! What classes do you guys play?

ElectricHead
01-10-2002, 04:47 PM
I play whatever the team needs usually. It also depends if I am with someone I know(like Ink). If Ink and I are on the same server, he is almost always a Lt and I will be anything that is needed BUT a Lt. On CP servers I am usually a Soldier defending a chock-point with a Venom or PanzerFaust IF I can find a good Lt to keep me stocked with ammo. On others like MP I will usually start as an Engineer or Medic.

Dont overlook the Medic class. They are very hard to kill; nothing can be more intimidating than a Medic with a full ammo load.

In all classes you just have to know what you can and cant do. If you have a good Lt, a kickass Medic, and a couple of Soldiers and an Engineer, that is REALLY hard to beat.

ps...

One more thing...do NOT expect the GUI to be anything like UTs. The GUI is pretty much a pc of crap, it DOES work, but its not even close to how good UTs is.

Oh man, the user interface is a load of crap. But yeah the teamwork is cool.

Don't worry. I won't quit UT over this game. Both are really fun, they are just different.

The first couple of minutes playing it, I wanted to whip out my translocator to get around quicker. I just played the single player game. Seemed like fun, definitely something I'll finish. Haven't gotten confident enough to get on a multiplayer game. Any tips before I get there? Do you guys pretty much use the default keyboard set up?

RS

SunnyDay
01-11-2002, 03:29 AM
The keyboard setup was pretty close to how I play UT so I think I left it alone..

Cept now when I play ut I keep hitting R to reload and it brings up the teamsay thing...

I've always used the WASD for movement... Keeps my fingers close to the number keys so I don't have to use the scroll on my mouse..

I played the single player for 5 minutes before I started up the multiplayer, then after a week or so played the single player to finish it to see why everyone online wants the paratrooper rifle (I wasn't impressed with it)

Hmmm... heres a rough guide on being a LT:

1. Give ammo to medics first, give any medic you see at least 3 ammo packs. They only start with whats in thier clip in thier gun.
2. Soldiers that have the flamethrower and panzerfaust start out with maximum ammo-give to medics or engineers or venom soldiers first. Medics hold three, Engineers can hold two packs, Venom soldiers can hold three when they start out. Keep in mind this is when they first spawn.
3. One ammo pack will refill a flamer maximum. Also, it only gives one rocket per ammo pack if your giving to panzer soldiers, so try and give 2 or 3 to them..(Panzer soldiers, right after you fire it switchs to your handgun, switch back if you can to your panzer, then go back to your handgun till you can fire again. It won't load a shell into the panzer until you switch to it, therefor you can't hold as much ammo.
4. On FF on servers don't chuck airstrikes and artillery just anywhere.. It sucks to kill your own teammates.

Also if your a medic and you run out of ammo, switch to your thompson or MP40 right after a LT gives you an ammo pack, it will make you reload your weapon that way I can give your 4 packs total instead of 3... Most medics don't do that... They wait till I give 3 then run off and switch to thier MP40 or Thompson...

I hope this makes sense, its late and I'm tired.....

EH or Ink feel free to correct me or elaborate on what I've posted (to make it clearer if its not)

ElectricHead

Well RS, I cant give you any tips on your control setup as I use a JoyStick and TrackBall...:D

But as to playing the multiplayer part, I have a post around here somewhere that is a pretty basic guide on how to start...

Yup...that looks about right SD. The Medic is a VERY important part to win the round. ALWAYS give Medics ammo first. And for Soldiers, depending on the map, either a Mauser(Sniper) or a Venom carrier. On a "far" map(like Beach), the Venom AT FIRST is pretty useless, because the Venom is not accurate at all at range.Give the Mauser Soldier ammo first. (Course, if you want to follow a Venom Soldier out onto the beach and keep him stocked, THEN you may have a nice bit of pain for the enemy).

What I would do starting out is play Lt, then pick Engineer/ and or Soldier. Medic is probably the hardest class to play well.

Good luck!

EH

ps...

A nice little team is one Lt, one Venom/PanzerFaust Solider, and one Medic. You put this three-man team at a chokepoint or a guardpoint, and it will be damn near impossible for the enemy to get by.

I forgot about the mausers!! If you plan on playing a soldier with one, you HAVE to use the scope to be accurate. If you don't believe me, just aim at a wall 10 feet away.. Your bullet mark will always be some wierd random place.
If you got a mauser, don't underestimate your pistol. Its an incredibly accurate weapon at any range, so when your on the move use it. When you've found a nice place to snipe for a few seconds pull out the mauser.

On a side note I once watched 2 people duel with mausers for a minute and a half, no one got a hit until the guy I was specing off of used his scope. They were about 5-10 feet away... Both were stationary. It was hilarious.

I agree with EH on the medic class.. To play it effectively is hard to do. I usually play a LT-but can handle a soldier or engineer just as well... Medic I'm not so great as.. I usually find a medic thats cool to team up with. Its hard to find a good panzer or venom soldier. But I always welcome them!

Oh yeah...

It IS tough at first to figure who is who...you WILL get used to it..
Remember, other than the diff uniforms, only your teammates have a health bar. the enemy does not.

I SUCK.

But secondly, it looks like playing well is pretty heavily dependent on knowing the maps fairly well. For example, I haven't played Lt or Eng yet because I figure I would need to know what to call an airstrike on and what to blow up. Hell, I still have problems distinguishing who's on my team or not. I've been playing medic, b/c I figure I can just be "Johnny-On-The-Spot" (what movie is that from?) and give health to people. And plus, I figure people can't complain since I've giving them an extra 10 health just for being there. :)
