Yes I am a n00b and yes this is a n00bish post, but seriously I get so excited when I see all these great and fun looking maps in the process of being made.
Super Happy Land comes to mind for one. I am anticipating this map as well as LS's shallow grave final and anything made from Angel as well as MalOSB. I hear that there are other great mappers too, I would have mentioned you, its just that I havent played any of your stuff yet.
This sounds kinda lame but I look up to you guys and you are already some of my favorite mappers. So it is really cool to hear the inside info on development porjects.
Post pics too.

I've got ideas coming out the wazoo at the moment, with the new ed, its possible now to make almost anything.
My BIG project is DM-LS_Steelworks.
But thats gonna take me six months.
Also thinking about a double domination on an old paddle steamer.

omg Mecca I love your avatar :D
You emailed me earlier, so you already know what I'm working on. Like Jebus said it's possible to do anything now, and I have an entire notebook full of ideas I couldn't do in UT. Non-stop mappage from dis wan.

its only the begginning of the map deluge...so more are on the way. Everyone has to get comfortable with the new editor. So give it a few more months before everyone settles into some real good maps for ut2k3.

Well I知 busy working on CTF-Fire&Ice, which is coming along slowly since I still have a hell of a lot to learn. I知 also including some custom mesh痴, which means I知 having to learn a whole new program (Maya PLE).
If I pull off half of what I am planning then this map will be 100x better then my last map.
Will announce more about the map when I知 nearly ready to release the BETA.
As Angle_Mapper said the new engine opens up the doors to some amazing maps that could eclipse anything that Epic and DE have done with the game (even Inferno and Magma). The only limits are the Hardware you池e using and you imagination. As computers get faster, bigger and better Static Mesh痴 and Terrain will be able to become more detailed. Stick with the community and you値l see some awesome work. Thelassia looks awesome for starters.
We are all learning the new Editor.

Well, I'm working on an unnamed project... which is pretty much the sequel to my (only) UT map, DM-BloodCabal. It doesn't even have a name yet, and is far from Beta. I have only carved out the "flow" (BSP) at the moment, except for one room - which I decorated with some experimental static just yesterday.
I'm still in the process of figuring out the editor, just like everyone else, so the map won't exactly be pushing the limits of UnrealEd3... but you gotta start somewhere.
Oh, and here's a screenshot ( Yes. I know. I like spikes. Okay? :D )

BuckYFG, that map is the best outside mapper made CTF map I have seen yet!!!
Seriously y'all, go check this one out. He even added vehicles. It is tyte as hell!!!
But I wish some one could fix the vehicles so the physics wouldnt make it feel like it is the wieght of a feather. Some sound for the vehicle would be cool too.
You guys know of anyone who has done a vehicle mod??

Yeah that's a nice map buckyfg, I checked it out the other day. The only thing I didn't like was some of the weapon placement ( shock + ammo right next to the flag in a flag room that's too easy to defend with shock. flak + ammo in the tight entrance/exit that's easy to seal off with flak ). Cool atmosphere though, very Mars!

been messing around with BR-Incinerator. the ball is in the middle where the belt is now. not even close to being done. don't even know if I will release it. just using it to learn the editor. could evolve into something though.

Screenshot--
It must be called "screenshot.jpg" for the auto-upload to work.
You can fix it-- go to the front page, to the left under "Welcome..." click the edit maps button.
Delete the map. Then re-upload it with the file correctly named.
That's it!
Welcome-:)

Scourgem, your light colors are hard on my eyes.
Your meshes on the other hand aren't half bad. :)
For me...well don't expect anything. :p

I had this idea and was wondering if it has been used anywhere.
I find that in some BR games, the game descends into chucking the ball as far as possible, translocate after it, repeat back and forth until someone is close enough to score.
it gets kinda dull sometimes.
so to reintroduce teamwork to the game, i thought that maybe the 'goal' can be hidden/blocked, and only the activation of a switch would expose it. this, i think if done properly, could add a nice twist as there would be more than 2 control points in the level.
what do you all think?:dunno:

I'm sort of working on that in my next map. I started a thread called "early beta pics BR-contact" you'll see the early map there and at the top of the building I want to put in a switch that will let the defending team trigger a object that can block the goal for a sec or two. its already hard to get at the goal, but that would help the Defense.

Nice idea.
BTW I really like some of the maps you've made. Good work! Cant believe your a relative new comer to the mapping scene tho! Give's me hope that when I eventually find the time that maybe I could produce some good stuff too.
How long did it take you to get used to UnrealEd? Have you any experience in 3dStudio Max or anything like that which helped? Got any advice for someone who's just starting eg links to a good tutorial site?

Hey <~~R3lL!K~~{ , I've never used any other 3d program, the only thing thats helped me is that I've been a web designer for 5 years, so you get a sense of design e.t.c but this is really a whole new thing.
I've only been using Unrealed for about a month, but I've had alot of time to work on it.
The best way to learn is from the tutorials on the Unreal Developers Network site : http://udn.epicgames.com/pub/Content/WebHome/
Look down the left menu and try one section at a time, just get the basic principles of it, if it seems to go in depth to much and ya get confused, just move on or practice what you've just learnt.
