Mmmkay---

I'm adding a tunnel/cave system to my map "Tonumbra"... currently I have a weather actor in effect so it is raining all over the map. including in the tunnel... :p Is there a way to block sounds and weather effects outside that you don't want inside?

This is a wild guess since I have not tried it, but I noticed a while back that ambient sounds have a property under the sound property called Sound_Occlusion. Might want to try messing with the various types in that setting.....

I downloaded that BR-Electric Fields map from ut2003hq.com and it had a rain weather effect as well... It surrounded areas it wasn't supposed to be raining in with simple volumes. I don't remember if there was anything else needed... I deleted the map because it was pretty freakin lame heh.

Historically, Hort, you gotta do sound areas with radii.
In other words, lotsa sounds outside but be sure the radius doesn't reach inside. In Poolstone SE (sound redone as per your review; thanks!) I had swamp sounds in the middle really close to the tunnel (which I wanted to be drippy and echoey, not swampy at all). So, it was a matter of shortening the radii and duplicating more of the swamp sounds so the effect was preserved in both areas. I even left some with medium radii and raised them in the air. It worked 'cause the center has no z-axis right there - the players can't normally get up higher to hear the origin of the swamp sound in the air, so it sounds like its coming from everywhere. At least, I hope so; with different sound cards and settings it's hard to know.

Which reminds me that EAX does that automatically... thunder outside is muffled when you're inside etc.

Yeah you have to set up a volume where you don't want the rain to go. I messed around with it a while back and this is how I set the volume up. It worked for me, just remember to build all because for some reason it won't start working until you do.

Heh. That's wierd. Tag the volume "NoRain" and it's a no-rain volume. This new editor is freaking me out.

Strange stuff indeed, although I'm not quite sure if putting the tag "NoRain" makes any difference. I just put it there because that is how I saw it set up on that one map BR-Football.
