Lessons from BamBam #2..

If I call you a "skank" it means I like you and you made a good kill on me an a very bad time..

If I air hammer you into the lava when you're camping and we're losing the game, it means "Quit camping and help get the flag!!"

Same goes for if I shock rifle you into the lava, space, or acid.. Quit campin, get the flag..

When you see your teams flag carrier running your way, don't run over and take the keg o' health right in front of him.. Chances are he had to scrap his way outta the other teams fort and could USE the health more than you.. Same goes for shields and runes..

A BIG no-no is camping with the SPEED rune.. That REALLY gets me goin..

Another biggie.. There is NO, I say NO excuse for spawn camping!!

DO NOT be an ammo whore.. If your teammates are in the area and running towards the ammo, just take one and let them have the other.. They may need it and then both of you can go with equal amounts.. = double the firepower..

Mebbe I should start a threat or columnn on "BamBam's secrets to playin successful UT".. hehe

If you have any other questions Unreal_Dawg, just ask, and that goes for the other n00b's in the game..

I'll see ya in my sights..

More n00b lessons..
OK, time for lesson number 4 from the Bamster..

If ya wanna make it high in the stats, you need to get the flag.. No flaggie, no points.. So, here's a thought for those that have been talkin about the 733t players being on the same team and winning like 6-0 or 6-1 a lot of the times.. If you want to get the points necessary to move up in the ranks, you should really think about switching over to the losing team, that way you can make the level last longer AND get those much needed flag points.. If a match only lasts 5 minutes, several things happen.. One, not many people get flag points... Two, n00b players get tired of getting spanked and leave the server, hunting for more even playing fields.. And Three.. You don't get any better by playing on the same teem as your equals.. Nothing to learn by doing this.. You need to get that challenge of tryin to telefag Duo Maxwell or pulse shock Play and the likes..

Get my point here?? If you see the match going like 3 or 4 to 0 in a matter of a few minutes, switch over to the other team and change things around a bit..

Now, as for this team switching thing.. If you're on the losing team, and I see you switch to the winning team and that makes the losing team have fewer players, I'll warn you to switch back.. Mebbe I'll give ya two or three warnings.. If you don't switch back or give me a GOOD reason (Cash in hand is a good reason, also some premium crack for my MCB) well, you'll soon feel the wrath of BamBam.. You'll be sitting there wondering "Hmm, why'd I get disconnected?" and then when you come back in the game you'll have 0 points..

OK, nuff said about that.. Now onto something else..

Taunts.. These are OK from time to time but, when you keep pressing the same bind key and saying the same taunt over and over and over.. That really gets old.. As far as I'm concerned, that's another reason to get kicked.. Nobody wants to hear about you being the Alpha and the Omega 15 times inside of 2 minutes.. I don't see many regulars doing this, it's mainly directed at the n00b's that are getting frustrated by being spanked soo much and figuring "I'm gonna be kewl and just keep hitting taunts until the next level.." GRRRR.. That gets old real quick.. Sayin something like "I've got the flag" so your team can see where you are and go to your help is one thing but, continually saying "You Suck" is just plain obnoxious.. Sometimes the other team doesn't hear the taunts but, if I'm on the other team and I keep seeing your team telling you to shut up, I'll step in and say something.. Then take matters into my own hot little hands if it continues..

We're all playin to have a good time and we don't want to put up with stupid taunts non-stop.. At the end of the match is fine, I've even been known to throw a few in there (especially during my flag dances) but, I don't do anything excessive..

Okies.. That's enuff for now.. Gotta save my fingers for UT later..

I'll see you in my sights..

I mean things that I do when I'm playing at my best are:

1. Select targets well. A lot of players will do something obvious when you are in a battle.... they'll take cover behind a post, but keep running, past the other side. A well placed rocket were they are going to be, fired before they get there, usually does the trick. Don't make a straightline for those you are trying to kill. It's easy to kill those running straight towards you. Move indirectly to where they are going to be.

2. Move constantly. Nothing easier to hit than a sitting target. Don't move in straight lines for very long, and don't be obvious. See number 1.

3. Translocator is your best friend. Gets you across maps quickly, and makes you quite hard to target or engage. But at the same time, you have to know when to put it away, and take out a weapon and be ready for battle. And also don't try to translocate past too many enemies. If there are two or more players their, likely one will hunt you down, from the back.

4. Pick battles wisely. If too many enemies in the area, back away, pick a weapon that will be good to defend an area, as inevitably you will have a couple opponents follow you. Shock Rifle, or Rocket Grenades.

5. When going for the flag assume there are campers that will be hiding. Think were you might hide, and have an area blast area, targetted there. If you they aren't by the flag, they will be following you shortly after you grab it.

6. When running with the flag, make all efforts to get ahead of enemies then back away while you engage them. Learning how to turn quickly so you make sure you have the correct path out, then turn quickly so that you can take out those who are following you, is essentail. When enemies are following you they have the tendency to run at you in a straight line.

7. Have a keyboard layout that suits you. Make sure that you can switch weapons without having to take your hand away from the mouse(aiming) and movement keys. Map voice commands to keys, and have them in easy reach. 'Cover Me', 'I need backup', and 'Defend the Base' are helpful to teamates.

8. Use the correct weapon for the situation. Tunnels call for Flak, grenades, or alt-shock. Open spaces require something with a bit more pinpoint. Primary shock or the sniper rifle, sometimes the rocket launcher.

9. Learn the best places to arm yourself. And arm yourself with several weapons before you engage the enemy.. And it's certainly map dependent. Some maps, are better, just translocating towards the enemy base, and gathering weapons at the enemy base or on the way. Nothing worse than being in a tight battle, and suddenly only having your enforcer with you.

On stealthdp, I fall somewhere in the average to below average range. But I have some moments of genius. I often find myself, violating a good portion of these rules in the heat moment. And the heat of the moment is often.

But when I play well, I'm usually following most of these guidlines.

If they have your flag and the other teams flag is still at the base it's GO TIME!! I still have no idea why, with the flag gone, 4 guys will sit and guard an empty base.. Ya it sucks if you return the flag and it's taken again right away but it sucks more to get your flag capped..

Any way.. You need to go and go now to the base in some blind rush to stop the flag runner if he just left your base.. Maybe you get lucky and can return it.. Heck just taking the other teams flag for a few seconds might be enough time for your team to return your own flag.

Errrrr of course this changes if you a good relic.. I'm not going to rush a base with the speed/power and just loose it being that can hurt the team more then just one cap.

If no one has anyone else's flag, might as well get all buffed up before you head in. As far as your base getting over ran, if more people used the commands "All clear" and "overran" it would not be such an issue... I tend to fig the base is clear and just head home.

Oh and I might as well mention this too.. Do NOT bring the power relic to the other teams base unless your a big enough stud to walk back out with it Ya end up just handing THE best relic for D to the other teams defenders. Doh!!
