I wanted to edit my user.ini for custom speech bind, but don't know how. I know its been posted somewhere, but I can't find it amidst the plethora of posts in the Stealth archives. :dunno:
By custom speech binds I mean "EFC going low" kind of thing.
Also, I was wondering if there was a way to change or deactivate the feature that goes to your last weapon when you press secondary and primary fire at the same time when xlocing. I kill myself at least twice a game because of that stupid thing.
Thanx. :D

You can get a cool little utility to help you with that here (http://members.chello.nl/~y.jelsma/UTBinder.zip).
Hope that link still works...
If it doesn't you can try and get it here (http://www.zpworld.com/nuke5.1/html/download.php?op=getit&lid=11).

Thanx. The first link worked. I'll try it when I get home 2nite.
Edit: Well, I tried, but how to you code your speech binds for custom ones? Normal speech is ''speech # # #'', but how about custom text?

if you wanted to bind custom text, then at the bind, add in a pipeline and say, or teamsay.
eg:
speech # # # | teamsay efc going left!!!
speech # # # | say you are all gonna die!!!
etc etc. the pipe | is used to put multiple commands on one keystroke. you can also just put say/teamsay commands on keys without the speech part.
same thing for ut2k3

well, you're really better off just practicing with your xloc more. eventually that problem will go away, rarely occuring. to answer your question though, there is a bind that you can assign to one button that, when pressed, will a) select your translocator and fire it as soon as it can, and on release b) will alt-fire the xloc, preventing any possibility of both actions occuring at the same time. however this kind of makes your xloc less versatile in that you cant really leave your puck somewhere. never used it, so i dont know all the limitations of that bind.

I've used the TransJump bind you are refering to. Here it is: Aliases[29]=(Command="GetWeapon BotPack.Translocator | Fire | OnRelease AltFire",Alias=TransJump) Copy and paste that in your user.ini. Then type Transjump next to whichever key you want to use for it.
It does make accidentily switching to your last weapon impossible. But it's true if you have experience you won't do that. You have to hit the primary and secondary fire at the same time to make that mistake. The keybind will also switch to your translocator when you have a different weapon out. So even if you don't use the TransJump, you can use the key just to switch to your translocator. Then translocate the normal way.
Here's a few links on keybinding.

afaik, there is NO way to 'turn off' that weapon switch "feature" with the xloc, only ways to get around it or avoid it. i used to have that problem all the time, which is why i did some research on it.
one technique that helps me out quite a bit is to lift my fingers slightly off the buttons on the mouse while i am xlocing so every fire/altfire action is quick and distinct. sometimes its too easy to let fingers rest against the buttons lazily, making for sloppy imprecise technique.

Just out of curiousity, does anyone pay attention to what their team-mates are saying?
I want to change my speech binds as well so I'll be looking into that. I just want to know if there are really people out there that pay attention to what's being said... since it is a TEAM playing game. :p
~Airlea~ I pay attention..... honest.

On this server about 50% can. Half the people kind of run around clueless, don't use them or listen to them. Half the people can listen and make use out of it. Which is good. On most public servers 0% can use or listen to them.

Lots of the good ones pay attention...to players that matter.
If some marginal player was spamming "cover me" all game and trying to get the flag, and getting killed all the time - I wouldn't listen. I'd let him get the flag, run with it one way as a diversion, then he'd die...I could get the flag and go the other way with little resistance. (sounds selfish, but gives team a better chance of winning.)
I would listen/read your messages...:)
Within a couple minutes on a server, you can figure out what ppl you should be paying attention to.

There's nothing I like more than hearing a few "Roger that" after I use an EFC bind like "EFC going right". Most of the time its just one person, like a good clanner (NFO, TN and some others) or an alert reg (Recon, F7, etc) but its still worth it.
I'll usually only catch something said that isnt speech unless its said 3 or 4 times. That little noise thats made when a message is posted draws my attention when its 3 or 4 in quick succession, then I look at the text box and read whats going on.
i.e. Recon's "FC inbound, hold down the base" (or something like that) X 4 is very effective

I listen!
I talk too. More people should get EFC location binds. :)

yes, i pay attention to voice and text binds and send them too, in case anyone on my team is paying attention. usually i only provide armor/health/status/weapon pure text bind so hopefully someone will notice that im on the roof with 5 health carrying a translocator and a flag, so someone will come help me out! :)

i still need to fix my speechbinds. they got all jacked when i got a new keyboard, i used the pageup/pagedown little set of keys for my important binds, and the new keyboard has a totally different layout and i haven't really played enough with it to figured it out, heh. so if i don't say roger that, or cover you, or i've got your back...it's cause i don't know how to right now!

I play defense - all D, all the time (if I grab the flag, something is very wrong!)
Anyway, team communication is essential and whenever I hear someone say "Incomming" or "Enemy FC Here" or whatever, I answer them and support them if I'm in the vacinity.
It just makes the game more fun and makes you a better team player if you have a few simple binds and use them consistantly and effectively.

mwuahhaha, sorry....thats like a 3 year onrunning joke with me. but yeah my "death from above!" "If your happy and you know it, bust into gibs!" (FCSM) and "Yippy kay-yay mother******" are bound on the top right of the normal keys (o, p, and [ )
that didn't change with the new keyboard. heh
