I've been noodling around in UED3... I find that I can no longer subtract... I can build any brush I want but nothing happens when I choose subtract. ??? Any thoughts???

You can't substract in a static mesh but everything BSP can be substracted... It's difficult to tell you more without any looks at your map: can you post some screen, or the file itself?

It's simple... I open the editor to create a new map...

I build a default 256x256x256 cube... then I choose subtract and nothing happens.

If I do the same with UE2 it subtracts the cube.

This works well for me... Maybe it's related to the latest patch: did you try it?

Ok- I should be clearer... it adds the cube to teh 3D view but I can't texture it... this is what I see:

I'll go look for the patch...

Ummm... did you mean the patch for Win98? I'm using XP... this was working yesterday but now it isn't. I've noticed that the editor sometimes remembers actions/setting from the last time I used it. Maybe I did something to cause this?

:dunno:

It's because you're in wireframe mode :D

Just click on the fifth icon from the right at the top of the viewport (the ones which says "dynamic lighting") and you'll be able to select the surfaces... It also works in any other mode, except wireframe...

Did you check UDN before opening UEd3? They explain the various new display options briefly but clearly...

It's towards the bottom... But don't forget to check the rest too ;)

There's one called editor update that add a new engine.dll. On the Unreal tech page - look further down sept. 27, I think.

:o

Doh!

I have read through the developers site.... this is one of those things I was talking about... I selected wireframe in an earlier session but didn't save that map.... so I open UEd later and it's still in that mode....

Thanks
