umh, all i can say is that the whole team is very sorry about the scrimmage, and aureolei is 86'd from the team and i personally suggest he be banned indefinately. if he didn't live in south carolina i would cripple him myself. if one of my buddies is out that way soon, you'll all get some screenshots of that!!! i also would like to apologize to hog and co. i hope you'll have mercy on the team. none of us were aware that he/she was cheating.

Well Brik, i am very dis-heartened to see that. I am the one who has fued'ed with him the most. After he came in and slammed me. But he was given a second chance even after threatening to dos the server. Then he does this. No disrespect at all, but how does everyone else know other's wernt using the same ****. i missed the original post, only saw the post after it had been put back up (the pics with the ezradar in the corner). did someone spec him when he was actually playing in-game earlier, with the bot active? seems kinda stupid to have radar on while spectating :?

Aureolei posted screen shots in the UM public forum of our scrim vs UMH. Well I looked at the screen shot and saw something fishy. In the top left hand of the screen is some red text:



The text says EZR v3.8



This is "EZ Radar v3.8". This is a UT cheat and is punishable by ban on OGL and PG ladders and UM as well. I have zero tolerance for cheaters and I wll not play with a team who has known cheaters on their team.

I'm not asking you to boot out Aureolei from 210 because he may be a friend of yours. If something is not done about this publicly in front of all the 210 members I will not play with 210 as it goes against all my beliefs.

I am asking you and the others who formed 210 to decide how to handle this. I have informed HogMan of this as well and am not sure what he is going to do about it.

Sorry to break this news to ya but at least I caught it and not another team and at least it was a scrim where he only spectated in and not a match he played.

He only spectated both games. So dunno about any aimbot acusations or even if this cheat has it. I can assume that he keeps up on the "UT Cheat" community to some degree as he has EZR 3.8. I was not sure what it was at first but being active in the UT competitive community and a server admin as well, I have heard of EZ Radar cheat for UT. I have never seen it before but the first thing that poped into my head was EZ RADAR. I talked to a few server admin friends to see if they knew if this WAS in fact EZ Radar. One of my friends said YES there is a EZ Radar 3.8 out and he saw someone post it in an IRC channel he admins (he banned that person right away for posting cheats)

I went to that website (he gave it to me since he had it in his IRC log file) and sure enough there was EZ Radar v3.8 (The latest and greatest version of EZ Radar). Dunno how long this version has been out but it is safe to assume that this cheater kept up to date.

It is a strange form of irony that he was caught for being stupid. Reminds me of the TV series I saw on FOX once about criminals caught because of their stupidity. Things like robing a store and putting down your gun on the counter to adjust your mask and the clerk picks it up and points it at you and you are arrested.

Again, he didn't play in the scrim and during the scrim when UMH had a player drop out I didn't play until he returned (I did that as soon as I noticed they were short one).

I have a motto that I will share with you all. Its more important to me to be respected because you are respectable than it is to win. Winning without respect is not a win. I'd rather be on the team who after every game win or lose goes back into irc/forums/etc and gets support from the community. Than the ones who's only goal it is to win and go home to an empty, cold, lonely home.

I thought Smiley was done with the game. Never seen him around in over a year. Then Wicked saw him and Smiley told him about UM so Wicked started to play there. Then Wicked got me to play there too. Then Smiley asked us both if we'd like to play with 210 and we said sure. :)

The rest of the players I just met when joining the team.

A section concerning cheating, BOTH individually AND as a team. I think there should definitely be some sort of probation for a team that has been caught with a player cheating.

This is no second chance Joe... We disussed this in length (admins) for almost 2 hours last night and Both teams were negatively affected. The 210 team was very classy in the matter in which things were dealt with so Kudos to you as For the UMH the match was a scrim (thank god) and they were gratious as well..

I honestly believe the 210 team is truthfull and We were assured that it wont happen again and I believe that.. Anyone cheats in a match tho ANyone No exeptions what so ever and The Z boyz will tell you as well On OGL for example these instances are dealt with harshly and unfortunatley the Whole team suffers as a result...

It's just the luck of the draw taht Arueoli was on 210, and taht he decided to cheat. That shouldn't reflect on the team, but it has to since the team is responsible for their members and their behavior. I agree that this tournament should be primarily for non-clan players..... but I'm sorry, if you're considered a 'pro' online gamer, don't you think it might be time to re-evaluate your life...I once spent an entire 10 minutes on that cached.net site. I couldn't take it; some of the conversation borders on the delusional. It's juuuuust a game.....

Ok for the record.

If the admin's thought the other members of 210 were in any way involved with the cheat, they would all be out.

This isnt about the ladder, it's about the fact that all UM servers have %0 tolerance for cheats of any kind, and that includes known cheaters as well.
Never mind getting kicked off the ladder, any known cheater will be instantly banned from UM. There is absolutely no excuse for it, and no exceptions will be made once it is %100 certain that someone has cheated.

As far as the ladder goes, cheats, spam, mouthy bad aditude BS will be dealt with case by case, with full screenshots and demo's as proof. False accusations are almost as bad, so make sure you KNOW someone is breaking the rules before you report them.

The rules have been posted, read them, know them. Ignorance will not excuse any of that behaviour.

As for 210, I dont believe that anyone else on that team had any knowledge of puke boy cheating, and in this case will not have any "punishments" given to them. During ladder play, if a member of a team cheats etc, then the whole team will automatically forfiet that match, and further action will be decided then. --JaC

JoeMama has a point, I mean if one of that clans members was cheatting, and this is during a practice and the person wasn't even fighting, how can we know if the others are cheatting, maybe Aureolei was on some kinda voice chat with all his members and had the radar on cuz hes too stupid to know how to find where the other team is during the game that he is being a spec. and he can tell his team where the other team is over voice chat because he can fly around the map and change views on EVERYONE. hehehe, then again anyone can do that, from any team, thats why I really don't think having spectators during a ladder match will be a good thing :(

Then again, Brik plays honestly and theres never ever been problems with him around this server. He is a cool guy and I played against em earlier tonight on a couple maps and the thought never crossed my mind that he would or could be using any kind of hack. He is like one of those little church boys...not the ones who get molested just the really innocent ones hehe.....I don't know there have been a lot of sound good ideas. I don't really want to get on anyone elses bad side with this post so ya know.....

Also, I know this doesn't seem to go with this thread or anything, but I wished the ladder was different, like there could be how ever many teams made up at with names, everyone sign up who wants to join in, some admin randomly puts them together in no order to make it all fair, those teams are stuck together and they gotta play like that and work together as the team they were thrown in hehehe.... I think that would be more fair than having a couple clans thrown together in like a month or two, then having a clan who has been together for years or something. It is like having a untrained bum fighting Ken Shamrock in the Octagon. I mean sure, it'd be fun to watch the first time, the second time it would be fun too, so would third, fourth, fifth, sixth..........hell it'd be funny everytime, but think of the bum....or something....The bum could always train and lose his drinking habit though, but that has nothing to do with it.... :? dumb bum.....

BTW: I'm glad admins decided to take those screen shots down, because some new comers who might come here could look that radar up and use it to help them out if they are getting stomped or something.

Lets not forget that Aureolei didn't even play the match, he only spectated for the joy of watching us lose so he could run his mouth. He isn't to bad of a player but doens't come close to comparing to the [z] boys, I guess thats why he never played. The point is I beleive there was NO cheat actually playing, only spectating. That cheat was only used by him in his pesonal play on UM1 I'm sure. And a spectator making comments about a game such as he did is comical and insulting only to himself. Word

It is most definately the teams responsiblity to know their players are not cheats (i sure as hell would hate to know i had a cheat on my team, and i feel for the pain im sure some of the 210 feel right now).

However:2) yes teams with cheats will also get some type of punishment. Are we going to make it a "1 chance then yer out" rule? NO. As has been stated before, the admin's will adress things case by case if/ever the need arises.

He was supposed to take my spot on Glacier but said he didn't know the map and would rather not play it. Then another guy went in for him (Brik I think) and another one left (don't remember who) so they asked me to play and I did. I was looking forward to a 3rd map where I'd sit out and watch 210 play to give them pointers later in the forum.

We'll play again and I hope to spectate a few games along with Wicked so we can watch 210's teamwork.

This whole ladder match is going to turn into who is better with thier cheat match. My concern is that I played with this idoit and it never crossed my mind that he was using a cheat. He was only caught cause the idiot posted a screen shot. I feel 210 should be no longer allowed to play on this server with that tag as an example for other clans and groups. I dont "think" Brick cheats because of his game and I would hate to see him go. He is part of the UM family that was here from the begining. I do feel this incident has to be delt with, if not, the whole server turns crap because everyone will know they can pull this crap and will only get a warning.

As for banning 210, that's crazy. It appears the policy on cheating is as follows: the cheater gets BANNED, no questions. That happened. Good. The TEAM is dealt with on a case-by-case basis. In this case, several factors should be considered:
1) The ladder has not started yet. This had little to do with the ladder, it was a PRACTICE match between some UT players.
2) There is no evidence that anyone else on 210 cheated. To the contrary, it was a 210 player (Obi-wan) who pointed out the cheat to the rest of us. I for one, took a look at the screenshots, and besides a sinking feeling in my gut, took no notice at all of the ezr notation. I would have missed it entirely.
3) The cheating bastard never even played with 210. He MIGHT have.. but he DIDN'T, which makes all the difference.
4) Sure, in theory, he might have been on voice com with his teammates. Well, we had BranchDavidian spectating, and even without a radar, had he been on voice coms with us (he wasn't, btw) it would have been just as bad as having a spec with a radar. Specs have no need, or benefit, from radars. This is why specs are not allowed in actual ladder matches. Check the rules. Again, this was not a ladder match. The ladders haven't started yet. So everybody lay off 210, ringers, regs, n00bs, Z.. it's all the same. They didn't cheat. They merely beat the living tar out of us, and there's no rules against that.

Well here on UM its a lot different than the outside world of OGL and ProvingGrounds. This is a friendly close community compared to the chest thumping ego maniacs over at the competitive community. So in retrospect for UM's purpose it is best to ban them from all UM activities reguardless if its a scrim, match or even public server play.

Stopping cheaters takes the whole honest UT community, however we have to be careful to never punish peeps who are not involved (ie: like false accusations , etc) .

To be straight forward, if this situation had taken place during a ladder match, my vote would be to kick the team from the ladder, and possibly ban everyone involved (although it can't happen because spec's ARE NOT allowed). Please don't think cheats are rampant here, they are in fact very few and far between thanks to hog's very diligent efforts :twisted:

I gotta say that I recognize everyone on every team as a regular UnrealMafia player except for some of 210?!?!? I'm not sure that the intention of the Ladder tourney's on UM were meant to solicit the services of "ringers" as we are calling them. Maybe it's just coincidence that all of these guys started playing very recently on UM, or maybe something drew them to "Us", whatever the case it does raise a red flag for me. As a player that plays rarely I really don't feel like entering a game that I plan to get slaughtered on, against guys I have never even heard of before (no offense to these guys, just trying to put some reason to all of this). Playing against UMH, I gotta say that I have played against each and every one of them as an individual in the past. Yes they are all real good players, ranked nice and High (which tells me they have been around for a while) but they were here way before this ladder tourney was a wet spot on the bed.

Just my $0.02, I have played against a few of the 210 guys and they are all great players, just want to voice that OGL is a fine organization that I have absolutely nothing to do with because I do not live and breath UT (more power to those that do). If we are going to bring OGL to the UnrealMafia Ladders, then I will find something else to do with my time.

Second, any ladder is going to have some competition in it. To say PGL/OGL clan members can't come in this league is like saying Shaq can't play in the NBA. He's too good and too big. That's basically a cop-out. For the naysayers out there, stop selling yourselves short. There are a ton of good players here. If you're not, here's a novel idea: GET BETTER.

If the point is to give regs (and I consider myself a reg!) the edge, maybe more mods and maps should be added to the opening ladder. UMH is a great team. They all own on the pub servers. Despite the loss, I guarantee that it would have been a different game if Vint had Speed and Poop had an SL. :wink:

Last, 210 is not Z. It's Brik's team, not Zenkai. Wicked and Obi are playing for the fun of it, just like everyone else. Nor are they professional gamers. They just happen to whoop ass. And me, I was only with Z just long enough to get a jersey out of it. :roll:

I've gotta go along with JaC on this one. This wasn't a ladder match, just a friendly scrim. The guy who cheated was clearly an idiot and has been dealt with. We all know how Aureo has acted since he got here. Hell, he even threatened to DoS UM once!

As for the rest of his team, well they never met him in person, and they never saw him play in person, so I have no trouble believing that they didn't know he was cheating. From their posts, and their chats in IRC, they all seem like level-headed guys (yes, even Brik :wink:). Aureo was clearly an anomaly in their team.

The cheater is gone, leave 210 alone.

On the subject of "ringers"... Just play! I think it's a good sign that some great players have shown up to play on the ladders. It means that there is serious interest in ladder competition. I would definitely like to see the ladders succeed, and it'll take lots of teams to make that happen.

As long as you can keep a good attitude, you can become a better player! Heh, I don't cry when I get shock-h0'ed by WickedYaw... again! I guess to chime in here: I have to say this whole situation makes me sick. Not because someone got cheating. Not because someone was stupid enough to post his own incriminating screenshot. (My god is that stupid! But what can you expect from someone who thinks he can fool everyone and get away with it.)

Its because far too many people are robbing themselves of one of the great joys in life: Deriving satisfaction from your own hard-earned efforts. Succeeding by your own hand is the best high there is. Its better than drugs. Its better than sex (ok, but not by much :)) People who cheat or take shortcuts to victory and success just cannot comprehend the satisfaction that people who earn such things do. They know, deep down, that any accolades they receive are not deserved.

It seems to me that in the last 10 years more and more people are expecting other people to gurantee their successes. And I don't just mean playing games like UT or Q3A or <insert your favorite game here>. I mean in life. Everyone seems to expect equality of outcome rather than equality of opportunity. If they don't get the same result as the highest achievers then something must be rigged or their efforts mus be sabotaged. Nothing in life is guaranteed, folks. If you want to succeed and prosper, you have to put in some sweat equity. You have to work for it.

The cheaters and the shortcutters (is that a word?) of the world are doing their best to destroy the credibility of everyone who has achieved their place in life by hard work, perseverance, and by seizing the all the opportunities presented to them. I'm just sick of it. Just because all you see now is someone's success doesn't mean they haven't spent years of work in obscurity and suffered through numerous failures to get where they are. I'm good at this game; I've played it for years and I've played it fairly. I'm proud of my skill and success even though there are plenty who can best me easily. I'm proud of my professional success at work. I have the respect of the people I work with.

But here, I am absolutely pissed at Aureolei for giving everyone the excuse to portray me as a cheater because I happened to be associated with him before I knew what he was doing. If I had known he was cheating I would have demanded he be kicked off my team or I would have quit. End of story. I'm sure others on the 210 team would do the same.

But now, I know a certain number of people will always believe that "I must be cheating" because he was. They will assume I just "have to be smart enough not to get caught". I've lost something that will be almost impossible to regain just because one twit took the easy way out.

There will always be doubt in some people's minds, and that's truly a shame. Not just for me, but for everyone who takes pride in their own accomplishments. Pride earned fairly through hard work, skill, and determination.

If this whole cheating incident had to happen to someone, I'm kinda glad it was Aureo. He's been a PITA since he got here. I was hoping he'd cool out a bit, but I guess I was overly optimistic. I can only assume that you all also hoped he'd chill and actually be a cool teammate.

Knowing what I know of Aureo, I personally don't hold this incident against 210. I respect you guys for bringing this up yourselves, and dealing with it quickly and decisively.

As for my comments regarding ringers... I just want to say that they weren't directed at anyone in particular, just against the feeling that, "If I can't win, I won't even try." Not that anyone said that, but that's the general feeling that I'm getting. So what if these guys are awesome? By playing against these guys more and more, I expect to get better bit by bit (as long as I practice). As I get better, the people that I play against will also get better.

As an example (since people like examples), I point to the US Olympic basketball team. Remember when they started using pros instead of college players? They spanked everyone silly, right? Well, the competition has been stepping up! Mainly because of cross-pollination with foreign players in the NBA playing with their home countries... but I think that analogy wold hold here.

Billy, it would take quite a lot of time and effort to code a cheat by yourself that defeats PURE. Anyone who has the skills to do that probably has better things to do with their time. I have to stick the "probably" in there because there may actually be someone out there that derives satisfaction from creating a cheat and not sharing it with anyone... I doubt it, but it's possible.

Coding any type of modification to a game takes lots of testing, so it helps to have lots of beta testers... hence the cheating communities, and hence the anti-cheating communities.

Ja has a lot more experience with these matters than you do, so don't be too quick to dismiss his comments.

I totally agree! At first I would get so pissed that this "JaCanadian" character kept slaughtering me everytime I played against "her" but over time I learned to observe and learn from him and it has helped my game play quite a bit. You can learn a lot from these guys and should be proud that people like the NFO and Zenkai hang out here. It says a lot about the UM that serious hardcore players such as them like to come here to have fun with the rest of us.

Why would you want it to be okay for someone to cheat at all?!? To me there isn't enough difference between a scrim or a match or playing on a public server to condone cheating. My vote, cheaters get banned and their team penalized without distinguishing between when and where they cheat. :evil:

Yeah, you Zen-Kai peeps really wiped up the floor with us. I didn't realize that you guys were the #1 clan in OGL until after the match. Otherwise, I would have felt like we were a college team taking on the Super Bowl champs! Anyway, it was only our third team scrim and none of us really have had any ladder or clan experience so we'll have to try this again once we've had some more practice.

Enteresting... Well I agree he should be banned. I think the team should be observed more carefully for signs someone else is cheeting also but I don't personly think they are so nothing should be done to them IMHO.

I'm much more concerned about this whole ringers issue. Fact is Brik is calling UMH a team of ringers. Which may or may not be true but we are in fact REGs. Every one of us plays on UM#1 at least once every 2-3 days some of us like me play sometimes 20 hours in a 60 hour period.

Saying he's a reg would be like saying Shaq is an Atlanta Brave. I play on UM1 and 2 ALL the time I've never to my recoletion played ether one of them. I saw Obiwan talking on IRC after that scrim thursday night seems like a nice guy. Doesn't change the fact that Brik recriuted them just because he wants to do exactly what Aeuri (however the hell he spells it) was doing. Bragging that his team is the team to beat yada yada.
I feel this is "false pretenses". (its just an opinion) If the Z guys want to join the tourny fine bring themselves and 3 other clan mates show up and kick all our asses into the dirt, but don't do so under guise of being a reg or part of a reg clan. All your doing is proping up Brik's ego. No offence Brik I like you 99% of the time but its gotten out of control. I'm never one not to say what I think.

For the record I think with just human brik and dogma 210 is a great team. I'm sure there are 2 other avalible players that could complete that team and give UMH a serious run for it money. Acutaly I was looking forward to a real challenge fighting those three in the same game.

Above and beyond any of this I'd like to point out that Miss fire and myself BOTH were missing from that game. Also to Obiwan you mentioned something about the OGL being a bunch of chest thumping crazed gamers yada yada don't remember your wording... well UM is slowly becomeing just like that. I have notice certian players purposely gunning for me in game that before this all started didn't give me the time of day. I'm talking they see me in the center of a map and go chase me down to kill me just so they can pat themselves on the back and say hah I killed soin so. Without me mentioning one word one of my teammates siad the EXACT same thing on IRC the other day. Its gotten bad enough that I have seriously considered quitting UT all together. Some ppl includeing me take it to seriously. A ladder is just makeing that 100 times worse..........................

I had to reply,,,,I think people aim for you because they don't like you....Almost everytime we are in there together I always get some smart ass comment from you or MissFireCracker, and you two know how I am if you say something to me I will say something back. But I talked to other clans and their members and they were telling me how you two always have bad attitudes. Also the fact that after every game you lose, you blame someone on your team for the loss, you never take a loss and leave it at that.....You have a very unsportsmanlike attitude to the game....

I never claimed I was a regular. I am new to UM and I came here to play for fun with my friends WickedYaw and SmileyFOX. That was the ONLY reason I came here to play. I started out playing here as my Zenkai name. Then after a night of playing I was asked by BRIK and Smiley if I'd be interested in playing a tourney with them for fun. I said sure if I'm around I'll play. I then changed my name for the UM community to Obi-Wan Kenewbie and even put the Zenkai logo as my avatar and in my first post on UM saying I have arrived I even said who I was. Never tried to hide who I am but I just enjoy playing as Obi-Wan because I like the name :)

I agree with you that I am an "outsider" and you have every right to feel the way you do about me. But just because I don't have 50 hours logged on the UM server doesn't mean that I or anyone else shouldn't be allowed to play with a group of friends in the UM league.

I stated that I don't like SL and relics. This is true. I am not one who loves to play with any mods. But I enjoy a change of pace from the regular grind of UT CTF. This change of pace is UM. It has many different maps (some suck while others are ok). It has the relics and SL mods (wouldn't mind seeing these go). But I still play on the UM server from time to time.

I play on the UM server the most right now. In fact I have not played on any server other than UM for the past 2 weeks (excpet any clan matches / scrims). I am not a very active player anymore and in fact when I was told I needed to log 10hrs on UM server to play in this league I was worried that I could even log 10hrs on any public server in 7 or 8 weeks time. That shows you how often I play anymore :)

I am involved with the UT community both here and other places more often than I play. I talk to people on IRC, forums, etc.

So yes, I am an outsider compared to many of you. I dont have my time logged here in the UM community. Howerver, I feel like I'm being descriminated against just because I happen to be a "good" player. If I was the worst UT player alive and joined 210 or any team I don't think anyone here would care.

I feel 210 can do just fine without me or WickedYaw. I don't plan on carrying any team. I do plan to help them out with understanding teamwork and showing them how to play maps.

Its not individual skill/talent that wins CTF games. Its the teamwork of the players that win games. Skill is 2nd to teamwork! Fragging, prediction of enemy movements, agility on maps and knowing how to ambush players are all tricks that help win but without teamwork, you won't get far.

Damn Demi... I just now noticed you responded to this thread. It looks like after I bumped it, it was promptly moved to the UMH forums from 'General Discussion' by the admins where it won't be seen by most UP people. I probably missed it for that reason or because I was banned.

This thread is even pre-UP history. It originally came from the old UnrealMafia forums before they were merged with UP. Lot's of great peeps in this thread... sadly almost all are no longer around. There are many reasons for this... if you want more info, let me know in a pm.

Although UT is for most intents and purposes, is a dead stick, I certainly wouldn't let anything in this thread discourage you from participating in a clan or in clan events in other gaming venues. The trick to clanning is that you have to join the right clan for you. Many clans are composed only of players that have one focus, winning and ego. It's that focus that obscures their ability to have fun as a group. These clans/people are what gives clanning a negative reputation among more relaxed players.

Most clans that |UMH| dealt with when UT was at its peak were not like that at all, instead they were tight-knit groups of people who were more concerned with having fun with a team of like-minded friends they enjoyed playing than they were with "owning". Thus, most of our experience with other clans were postive ones.

|UMH| is just a great team of good people. The people who are/were members of |UMH| almost all consider the experience to be the the best gaming experience they've ever had... myself included. Individuals like Dark_Man (who was kicked out of the clan after a very brief stint) didn't fit in because he only cared about one thing... winning... and he didn't care how he got there. He might have fit in better with one of many other clans who had a "win at all costs" focus.

The guy who was caught with a cheat loaded was just a moron. He is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. He worked with a couple of other guys (one being Brik who was really a nice guy) to create a team with one purpose... owning everyone in the tournament. When he (Aurolie or whatever his name was) found out about UMH forming and NFO being in the tournament, he recruited mostly players from the top PG and OGL clan, Zen Kai to dominate the "for fun" tournament. Although the [Z] players were mostly a bunch of good guys, that team (210) was assembled for the wrong reason and a couple of the non-[Z] people were great fraggers but total tools. The moron that Brik is apologizing about, posted a screen shot of a 210 win over UMH during a scrim in an effort to brag about how big his e-shlong is. The idiot was running radar when he took the screen shot and of course it showed up when he posted it for all to see.
