Everytime I played in the server today my ping would spike up and down. I think i'm gonna pull for one of those hi-tech 56k modems I've been hearing so much about. Sure, I'd lag with that, but it would be $40 cheaper.
Or maybe I should switch my cable provider. Anyone know of one besides @home that is in calfornia?

Number one stop on everybody's list that uses a broadband connection is http://www.speedguide.net Take a look at the left hand bar and get your tweaks there. I found a couple of good ones, like WinXP's QOS reservation (let's call it what it really is - M$' way to reserve bandwidth for THEIR applications).

They have some GREAT hints on bumping your speeds up...

To the San Jose Cali -

(At least 4 times faster than a 56k modem)

To LA -
** Speed 671(down)/116(up) kbps **
(At least 13 times faster than a 56k modem)
Finish.

And what I pay for 768 down/128 up.

Have you tweaked your registry for broadband, Soby?
You might get rid of some of that lag. Go to DSLreprts.com and look for tweaks. DO NOT download and run their auto-tweaker. It has some things that I don't like. If you still need help, send me a message and we will get you fixed up as much as possible.
