A friend of mine (gopostal) contacted me a while ago asking if I wanted to join him in a project to bring a mod simular to ut2k4 Invasion to ut99. When I saw what he had going I instantly teamed up with him and we started coding like maniacs. Later on more people from our clan (HoF) offered their assistance on things like graphics, ideas, suggestiond, feedback and very important: betatesting. Now, we didn't just copy the ut2k4 Invasion mod, we took the fundemental game idea but have tweaked it alot and turned it into what we thought was best, making it configurable in any way we could think of so that the server admin can run his server exactly how he sees fit. We made up 5 optional mutators to go with the base release, and made them as configurable as possible. The base game will be released with 32 maps that support it directly. Mapping for this gamestyle is EXTREMELY simple, we made it as simple as possible. For mappers who might be interested in mapping we will also release a mapping guide with very simple words of advice before you start mapping for it.

Gamestyle explained:

Think of this as a kind of MonsterHunt reversed, Instead of you hunting monsters the monsters are hunting you. The monsters are spawning in 16 waves, easy to begin with but hard ass h*** at wave 16. The aim of the game is to survive all 16 waves and win the map, to become : SURVIVOR!

Now, all the waves are each fully configurable, the server admin gets to decide what monsters goes in each wave, how many total monsters there can be in the map at one time, also how strong they are and finaly how long the individual wave is lasting.

The monsters ... Well ... many of the classic monsters you know from MonsterHunt are there, but there also also quite many custom ones you might never have done battle against before. In fact, there are a total of 42 different monsters to chose from in various classes.

The release date is set to : 16th October.

Server admins can request the readme's a few days upfront at our forums to get an idea of what server to setup for it. Just let us know you're interested and we'll mail them to you.

ut99 never dies ... frag on!

Ok, we've had another betatest on the gamestyle, we tried to put as much stress on the server as possible to see what the server can handle, we maxed the monsters and crowded with players it ran just as smooth as an icecream left out in the sun in august :)

We've finetuned it a bit and added two more base mutators to go with it.

We are ready to rock'n'roll

our forums are open now also, so if you want to develope for this in the futeure you should sign up there :D
