Hi Folks,

I'm looking into whether it's worth changing the photo gallery that I display my rugby photos in, after some requests from the viewers.

Features I need are:

Thumbnails either configurable size or approx 200px wide for a 7x5 ratio image.
Preview image about 480px wide.
Full size image about 1024px wide.
Ability to slideshow the fullsize image or the preview image.

Runs on mySQL 5 and php 4.

Any reccommendations?

Looks nice, Tex.
Scaleable and slim.
The 50 image limit might be a bind - I generally get between 100 & 150 images per match, although this might encourage me to be more selective :)

If you want to see how flexible it is, hit my website link in my sig and look at how I've customized it.

Photoshop can make this very easily. File>automate>web photo gallery. All you have to is place your pictures in a map and adjust some settings. Then PS does the rest. I like this over using a site to make it because you can customize it when it's done.

My portfolio site is made like this

@ Tex: If you could get it to run a slideshow automatically that would be perfect.
@ (C)orey: I've tried the PS ones, they just don't do what I need, except the Flash ones and unless you have thumbs of about 2 pixels square they look awful - they're not geared for multiple galleries and generate a huge amount of files for no apparent reason, too ...
@Nihil: I'm having a look at that.

Then look again at the Airtight site for Autoviewer.

Ah - nice - I managed to ignore the keyboard controls completely - a simple caption below the images will alert my onlookers. I shall play with the viewer this very night ... :D

[edit]
Played with it a bit quicker than that ... it's perfect ... except ... I could really do with it handling more than 30 images ... quite a lot more.

Oh well, you get what you pay for.

This is true :)
I just have to decide whether to pay for a pro version that will handle the bigger galleries, or "pay" by investing in the time it takes to write the structure to have each match as four or five subgalleries.

You could always go with Smugmug.com

We use them for the business, and they rock.

If you're interested in looking at a Gallery implementation (Nihil's link), I've got gallery 2 running and integrated into my site: http://outpt.co.uk/gallery/ - It's very flexible.

To be honest, i'm just going to port the whole lot over to flickr or something and link to it when I get around to putting the finishing touches to my site re-design.
