View Full Version : 1on1 DM mappack anyone?

So i've noticed UT3 has a serious lack of good duel maps, so i thought a map pack would be enough to satisfy most people's need for 1on1 fragging at least for a while. I'd be able to supply two maps for the pack, one of which is very close to completion http://www.unrealplayground.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50273 . The maps would have to be strictly one on one, and i mean real one on one not the kind of one on one where you have one encounter every five minutes.
1-on-1 maps are usually pretty easy to complete so if you still haven't done the move to the new ED then this might be a great opportunity to do so.
Anyone interested?

I'd like to see it! 1 on 1 something doable in a reasonably amount of time.
With each new generation of the game the man hours needed to create a decent level increase exponentially! :p

I may come up with something, however Crysis Warhead comes out on the 16th, and I'm going to get a new airsoft rifle on the 13th.... so I'll be kinda preoccupied then. :)

a 1v1 might be something i should really start on, whether i can make it now without learning the editor (why the hell does it get more complicated to use every time...)

Don't sweat it, it took me a week to get cogworks finished and it was my first UT3 map. Start working people. Oh and i think it would be better if we all released alpha maps for testing purposes before the decorating process, these maps need to be awesome gameplay wise :claps: , just a thought not really necessary, especially since both the maps i'll be submitting if this pack gets done are already in the decorating stage :P

I'm kinda interested in making a 1on1 map for a map pack. Although, I've only released 1 map so far and it's a CTF map (CTF-AtheaCE). The map I'm making now is both DM and CTF (with different layouts but similiar theme). The DM one is pretty small, not currently small enough for 1on1 battle but it can be adjusted without much problem.
If you want, I can post pictures of the layout tomorrow (top view).
So yeah, let me know if you want me to contribute to the map pack. (Either by replying in this thread, send a PM, email: Jonatan.czapnik@gmail.com or send me a PM on the official UT3 forums.
Edit: btw, I can have the map ready for beta testing in 3-4 weeks if necessary.

If you have a BSP layout ready, just finish up the gameplay (item placement and bot pathing) and post it here so we can test it out.

I have a concept in my head for CTF and DM map get in out and into the Ed is proving to be a Prob:spank:, will give it a go and see what i can come up with.:type:

Okay I just got a PM from cooloola. Might have gotten it a week earlier and didn't notice as my reallife *IS* timeconsuming at the moment. Anyway, I don't see a problem with his request, he'll tell ya. Just two things from my point of view.
1) Something with F in the name.
2) High quality. It's a long tradition in the series.

For those who don't know me, I'm mostly active on Epic forums (with the same user name). I already comments on 'DM-CogWorks' and I would be glad to help you folks.
I hope that you're willing to follow the normal process (like alhpa-beta-rc-final) and that time is not an issue neither. If you guy's are willing to take me in, I do my best to help you.

Hi Stevelois!
That was actually my intention. I've redrawn the layout of ZeroHour (DM version) to make it suite 1on1 and if all goes well, it might get included in the pack, if there is going to be one :). That's my goal anyway!
(please note that the CTF version is still going to be completed first, might be abit later than I thought before due to a certain pub right across the street of where I live, haha xP.) :hammer:

I was wondering if all the comments about all the maps will be here, on 1 thread or someone will make 1 thread for every map included ? IMO, maybe it will be easier to follow if each map as is thread ? Just a though ?

i have a few ideas, current one is an upper cube linked to a lower cube the upper cubes floor goes over the lower as balconys or walkways, whether it is big enough though, i know it says cubes but its alpha so...
other one is using the terrain tool to make caves (using 2 terrains basically one upside down so it ajoins the lower one just like tunnels) I could of course combine the 2 and make it interesting.
