Answer to my own question is:
Sandstorm, so far. The moving sand creates a sense of fear and randomness. Excellent sniper points.

What makes a map that you want to replay?

without a doubt it is CTF-Strident, classic 2 ways in 3 ways out of the flagroom, small enough for 2 on 2 , big enough for 5 on 5.
it has it's drawbacks, like places players can "hide" in beautiful crap added for no good reason.
add all the glitz you want, but please lets not have a whole new generation of people who abuse poorly finished maps (glitch whores)

Sandstorm would be better if the map wasn't one-sided. There's a jump boot shortcut that goes from one base to the other, but not the other way. This means that one team has an excellent flag return route while the other doesn't.
I'd say Necropolis is one of my favorites, as it has a very effective rock/paper/scissors combo of strategies, although DW camping and Nemesis camping throw the game off a little too much.

I play CTF so my fav CTF map is Reflection. perfect size.
must give props to Vertebrae too. its probably my least fav CTF map to play online. but I like its unique layout and it is also very nice looking.

50/50 on CTF-Strident and CTF-Reflection. Both great maps with simple and effective layouts.

Where are the custom maps? I believe they're in the same place as redirect functionality. Not made yet. :P

maybe I should not say this because if I never finish it I will look like an ass. But I am working on one. it started as a remake of CTF-Isolation, but ended up turning into somewhat different in terms of layout. I feel a lot more comfortable with this editor especially with terrain and things like that. anyway...at least one custom map on the way :)

Cool to hear, Slain! Isolation is an awesome map. I'm working on a CTF as well (of course) :D

CTF map coming here too. :)
My Favorite maps, I like Islander for WAR, and for CTF i like the new coret & Hydro. I was actually suprised at how many maps i really didn't like. Looks like they spent a lot of time on WAR maps... :/

I am fond of DM-Fearless (1vs1), CTF-Coret, and War-Avalanche. I guess I like the themes to them except for Coret since it is a classic.

Thanks, I had not noticed the one sided jump boots. Necropolis is great too.
I am also working on my first UT3 Map(s). That's why I asked what people look for or like in a maps game play.
It's interesting to see what people like.

DM-Deck, DM-RisingSun and DM-Fearless.. probably the only half decent maps for insta. CTF.. only had one game of that so far. and haven't touched the other game types.

CTF-Reflection has led to some of the most intense CTF I have played since UT99. It's awesome
