Anyone interested in making some dino characters for a JP themed map? Just curious. I can model but only for level design, wouldn't know where to start on creating a custom enemy :D

Worked on a gate. Even with baked lighting and no smoothing groups it came out looking "soft and blurry" like most static meshes... Oh well :)

Here's some examples just to show I can actually make maps ;). The first was just a test to see how well LOD worked on static mesh trees(results was that regular static meshes render faster even compared to 16 poly tree animations set to static...). Second is a map for Jurassic Rage. Several other maps in that thread.

Making new enemy monsters can be quite an under taking. Consider the time it goes in to modeling, texturing, rigging, animating, the list probably goes on forever. I don't know of any dino models out there you could use for UT2k4, but I wish you luck in your project.

there is a raptor model out there somewhere. I haven't got time to chase down the link now but a search on fileplanet or something might turn it up.
I used to have it as my player model, but i lost the files with my PC crash a while back.

They could always be made like the old single player enemies in this mod. I have a mod for unreal1 called jurassic that includes about 8 dinos complete with coding and sounds but I dont have a clue how to convert it.

I've made a few custom models with anims for OSM maps and it's not too tricky.
You';; need a heap of Dino models of course, and you should probably use the Raptor from Jurrasic Rage (as that's AWESOME).
So what you need to do, is work out what type on Monster you want to base the Dino's on.
Say for example a Pupae. Becasue they don't shoot, have a small leap attack and a slash attack these would probably be pretty good.
You need to rig your Dino model and make some new animations.
Now, when you name the animations for importing into Ued, you'll need to name them the same as the anims from the Pupae such as Death, Death2, Crawl, Bite etc etc.

I extracted all the files from the original .u for UT and put them in a zip file for anyone that wants to look at it. If anyone could let me know how to import it to the osm mod I would appreciate it. I have the .3d, .wav, .pcx and .uc files which I think is everything.
