I bought this samsung monitor on Saturday for 209+tax=240ish.
I was wondering If there is a better buy in this price range.
I know there is a LG one that has similar specs, but it seems it has a better contrast ratio. The samsung monitor has a dynamic contrast ratio of 3000:1 and a standard contrast ratio of 1000:1
LG has one with "Digital fine contrast" that is 3000:1 and a Standard contrast ratio of 3000:1(im guessing digital fine contrast is just a term coined to sell the product, referrin to its high contrast ratio) i was wondering what the difference was?

Im really liking the casing of the samsung, but now Im thinking Ill get bettervisuals out of the LG

By the way, samsung was on sale up until sat for 209, now the LG one im considering is on sale for 209. haha

Anyway, the specs are as follows.

Samsung
Viewable Screen Size 19"
Maximum Resolution 1440 x 900
Aspect Ratio 16:10
Response Time 2 ms
Brightness 300 cd/mē
Contrast Ratio 1000:1 (3000:1 dynamic)

LG
Viewable Screen Size 19"
Maximum Resolution 1440 x 900
Aspect Ratio 16:10
Response Time 2 ms
Brightness 300 cd/mē
Contrast Ratio 3000:1 (3000:1 Digital fine contrast)

Acer makes a damn good monitor too. My apt complex office has one and it looks great. Rosewill is also a good budget LCD from all the reviews I've read. I've used Rosewill memory and PSUs and they are solid.
Sometimes contrast ratio and response times can be misleading. Grey to grey for instance only has to do half the work that a black to white response time measures. There's a ton of info about specs and what they mean with a google.

Good enough si good enough.
Going from a crt to lcd, I do see a difference. It feels liek my mouse is delayed every slow slightly. Problem is, when I snipe in relatively close range, I usually dont take time to snap onto heads. I go through the swinging motion and kinda subconsciously time it such that I knock heads off. :) WIth any delay, it makes it really hard.
That, and the 60khz meaning 60fps limit. I liked ut99 running at 85.
Although, I can stand it.

So if you want an lcd monitor, this one or the comparable LG 19 inch is the best for your dollar.

BTW, 2ms btw doesnt exist. 2ms gtg is around 5ms btw.
