As always, competitions wouldn't be the same without a MASSIVE amount of superprizes for the contest winners. Now given that I'm a poor slob just like any other person, I wouldn't be giving away gaming rigs to the winners, but.....

exactly! I'd really like your input on what you think the prizes should be (realistically speaking, please :hammer: )
There will be prizes for first, second and third place and everyone will have his(/her) map(s) pimped by being released in an awesome competition map pack!
How sweet is that? :D
Get your opinions in here, now!

EDIT: Yes, we do really appreciate if the community would step up and see if they could donate something to the hardworking people that bring us the joy of these singleplayer maps.
I'm not entirely sure how the money thing would work out, since we would make a pool for it and everyone's spread all over the world etc.

One of the definite prizes is that the number 1 of this competition will get the honour of thinking up and organising the next great UP competition! The rest should really be decided on shortly. Great suggestions so far!

How many people would spare some $? What would people be willing to donate?

It can all been pooled and a few items to the value of the pool could be offered.

Or is that just me making things complicated? :)

We Do Need Donations for these Prizes.

This is where the playing community (the members who would enjoy the resulting Map Pack) could step up and help give more incentive for the mappers.

OK, i can't do $$$ due to no paypal, but i can offer something else.
I'll mail the winner an Aussie pack consisting of -

Aussie flag
Aussie beer coasters
Jar of Vegemite
Whatever else i can fit into the box.

This won't cost me much, postage is like $8 or something aswell.
If i win though, i'm not posting it to myslef......rofl:)

I heard a rumour that Vegimite was recently banned in the US...

EDIT: Oh snap! (http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,20623973-2,00.html)
Who whould have thought that a spread wasn't allowed to have the same ingredients as bread? :dunno:

Nah, completely different.
It's an aquired taste apparently (so i've been told by the ethnic guys at work who can't stand it.....lol).

I like the UP-related prizes too. The total $ amount for the garments described above is about $63.00. Miscellaneous donated prizes could be on top of that I suppose. But, we do still need $ donations to offer those prizes to the winning mappers.

Personally, I'd rather the competitors *not* donate, seeing as they're already donating their time, effort, ideas and maps. (I guess it would be a little like an "entry fee")

I will be donating a modest amount of $ (no steady job), but we need donations to make this prize pool a reality. Come on, playing community. Who's UP?

Every donation counts, no matter how small. :)

I think people really need to know *how* they donate. PayPal?

Good point.

I think the first step is a pledge here on this thread, as some of us have already done. Then, a PM to Sjosz or myself should let us know exactly how much, or what, you plan to donate to the prize pool.

We can work out the details over PM. It could be PayPal, snail mail, or some other tricky exchange to get the prizes to the winners after the juging is done.

There's still time to help donate to the prize pool. :D
You'll be happy to know that your donations will be given straight to UP to help keep this place running, as both Lord_Simeon and BigJim have graciously decided to donate their prize values to UnrealPlayground.
Don't delay, pledge today!
Make your donations on behalf of Lord_Simeon or BigJim on this thread (http://www.unrealplayground.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42694).
Sjosz, myself, Lord_Simeon, BigJim and UnrealPlayground all thank you.
