My old boss just gave me a lil summin summin...

6 blade server, 6x800mhz processors, 3 of them have 1gb sticks of ram, 3 laptop HD's at 40gb each installed in three of them, each blade has 2 spots for a hard drive. 2 of the blades are running windows 2000, the other is running red hat apparently.

You can actually run 12 independant servers, each with their own NIC on this thing! :D

I'm going to be playing with this for a while.

If I cant find a rediculous use for it, can the playground?

You could experiment and learn with Linux clustering, that would be perfect hardware for that, but if you're not in IT learning that may be of no interest.

Damn, how come Spiffness gets all the good free stuff? The POS laptop I got for free from my work this summer never worked right, so I took it out to a friends farm and shot it with a shotgun. I wish I could get nice things for free, or at least that Spiffness would share the love and send elwood some sweet stuff.

Its been a good week for freebies. Got a Vaio laptop to part out on ebay ($300 or so) and today a customer gave me the nice USB controller and copy of far cry that came with his graphics card. An old man needs not such things!
