Since we're all gamers, I figured that running Folding@Home didn't shorten the life-time of your computer. So I figured I should give it a go. But two things

1. If you run Folding, does it shorten the lifetime of your processor/ram?

2. Is it possible to grab the WU and have an offline computer process it, then upload it on a different computer? I have a powerfull computer that is not allowed to get internet.

1) Yes it can, it uses 100% of your CPU resources (without slowing things down, mind you, it's really smart like that...). But 100% is 100%.

2) Yes

as long as you have good cooling it shouldnt do it any harm. ive been folding on my parents 733mhz dell for about 3-4years and its not died yet. (its always on btw).

i know it can work on it offline but i dont know if it can pass work units to a diff computer.. spiff said yes. so maybe he can explain :D

I've been running it pretty much non stop ever since I installed it on my XP3000+ and all seems well. Been probably two years now at least.
