Base it on a kart race track!
An easy way to get from one base to the other involves riding on karts and then speeding them in killer speeds to the other base!
Something like the jet mod made by ghandi, but your stuck in the race track!

that is one of my faves on n64 (and i still play it when i visit moms place),against my brothers and sisters.
that game was well designed simple and easy.Full throttle
right around all the tracks(but not for beginners though)
hop jump to gain perfect eceleration.

one of the particular things I like about your maps (the ones that have them) is the ability to suicide in other unique ways i.e: that big-kitchen, where you can bake yourself or microwave yourself!
Maybe if you crash with say, over a certain velocity into any type of objects (including other karts) you die (so does the guy you crashed into.) hehehe!
This would be a vary fun way to play CTF, hearing it reminded me of the strange love made by ofus. I think it's a great Idea.
However, wouldnt making the controls for the kart kinda hard, or would it be kinda like the jets mod, only glued to the ground.

as for the mario kart thing
i would like it to have all the same weapon mario has
and everyone races one way with the flags at opposite ends
of the tracks
so if u miss the flag u have to race all the way round to get
back to it

The map I'm working on now kinda has that hitch a ride idea actually... It's based on the city scape from The Fifth Element. Picture the scene when Leeloo steps out onto that ledge and takes a dive after she's reconstructed... There'll be stop signs near the base buildings, so you can hop on top of a car while it's stopped ( or you can "try" to jump on one when it's moving, but it'll be going pretty fast :) ). I'm making it for UT2003 since there's going to be around 35-45 ( simple )ai controlled cars in traffic ( and maybe 100-200 lowpoly animated decoration cars for backround detail ) so if I tryed to do it in UT it would be unplayable. I'm almost done with the code, but I'm dreading doing the art. :) This is kinda my test to see if large maps will be fun if you restrict how you get between the bases quickly so it doesn't turn into hide and seek. It should be cool, wish me luck! :)
