Versions 2000a and 2000b were bad enough with the advertisements.. I can only imagine how bulky the new one is going to be like.

The file sharing feature looks interesting tho...

Yah..

ICQ will *ALWAYS* be beta. Mirabilis (who developed it before it got taken over by AOL) had said it would be a free beta. The moment it stopped being beta they would charge for it.

Of course, they're never going to charge for it, so until AOL turn it into something completely different (and screwed up) it'll be beta... and free :)

I prefer ICU much better than ICQ. ICU allows u to see the person you are talking to, whether they have a vid cam or not....

I'm curious how that works.

I mean... do they have a crack team of private eye's to dispatch whenever you make a call, who then track me down and take piccies of me through the drawn curtains in the living room?

Or maybe a highly secret fleet of satellites with x-ray capabilities that can pinpoint me curled infront of my machine and photo me in my pajamas?

Should I be worried?

My ICQ number is only 6 digits and begins with 1 also.. Does that make us special?? Are we in the top ten on a list?!?!

ICU works on the basis of SIT(Satellite information technology). When u talk to a person, ICU will commandeer the nearest satellite which will then pinpoint the location of the person u are chatting to. Using radiophonic technology, it has the ability to see straight through solid objects. It is compatible with ICQ, so that the person on the other end does not need to have ICU for it to work. Only u need to have ICU installed. I pay about $15 a month for it and it works great!!!!

Ya. sortof. ICQ doles out numbers in order y'see. So we're within the first 100 thousand people to sign up for it.

I'm uh... in the 124k range. People have been known to sell low numbered ICQ numbers - numbers five digits or less go for quite alot I hear.
