View Full Version : Life Is beautiful!
Did anyone see this movie?
Its so touching, and sad in the end.
i watched it 4 times in one day. The film is a master piece, i recommend everyone to see it. As for the men we should all learn from that father in the movie. :tsk:
Well it got my mum and my grandma's crying so hard, like the day my grandpa died! It also nearly got me the feelingless man to tears.
best movie ever seen!
Its better then porn!
:D

Yes- excellent.
I finally watched Beautiful Mind this weekend with Russell Crowe. It's nothing like I expected. If you have any interest in Math/Science you should check it out.
Rent the DVD if you can, the added documentaries and other material are worth it.

When he's carrying his little boy, and he comes across the pile of bodies. I'd say that was one of the best conematic moments I've ever witnessed. It's foggy enough to not gross you out, but it hits just as hard, and it gives it a very eerie feel. Great flick.

Yes old yeller does make a man cry. But Armegedon (I cant spell) is a total tear jerker for me. The guys version of Titanic.
Life is Beutiful is a fantastic film. I had to watch it for a film class and it was amazing. A great way to tell such a sad story. I love how the dad approached the situation by telling the kid it was a game. A brillant film in my mind.

baby Face George Nelson-- a real, historical person. One of our country's mob/gangster legends.
If you like O' Brother... see ANY of the Coen Brother's films- they are all good. (Raising Arizona-LOL!)

Tommy the Guitarist was real guy too, he wrote a bunch of great stuff. His down to the crossroads to sell his soul thing is in a song of his called Crossroads that Cream made pretty popular. In case no one knew:evil:

Mostly. The Hudsucker Proxy was pretty dumb, and The Man Who Wasn't There was bland and lifeless. Probably the worst Cohen Bros movie I've seen.
Although Fargo was their most highly acclaimed, I wasn't a huge fan of that one either.
There true masterpiece is Miller's Crossing. One of my favourite movies of all-time. Raising Arizona and O'Brother were excellent movies as well.

I actually hated Blood Simple. "Man Who wasn't" was ultimately boring though I thought the cinematography was good. Big Lebowski also lost my interest.
Miller's, Raising, O Brother... great stuff.
Back on topic--
I wish another Roberto Benigni would make it big. He keeps to Italian because of the language barrier... they're hard to find as rentals.

I think we're getting sappy in our old age guys.
A lot of hollywood movies nowadays tear jerk for really no reason though. For instance, Titanic. Tell me why again James Cameron had to have Jack die at the end? What PURPOSE did that serve other than to make us all misty eyed? He didn't really die for anything, oh wait that piece of wood was too small for both of them... i'm sorry, we're freezing in the atlantic, i'm lying ontop of you on the raft, no i'm not turning into an icecube.
I'm just saying that a lot of scenes in hollywood are written purely for the emotion and have nothing to do with the story or with story telling.
which is the best horror you guys have seen!
Exorcist
Texas Chainsaw masscure
psycho.
My personal opinion is that, horror movies nowadays, suck. The best are all those old ones, even the black and white stuff movies are way better then crap like "i know what you did last summer, haunting, scream"
Man don't they improve, people who make horror now, really suck, lack of horror imagination, a bunch of lame ass. Man i wish Alfred is back to live, and william peter blatty will start writing again.
I can't believe that people are actually scared of horror made nowdays. This goes for the Japanese, Taiwan, and HK horror too, what is wrong with them, making all these crap, and claiming that its the best horror ever written.
Shame on horror movie makers now days, with the best technology and budget, they can't do anything near the level of the 30's.

That just stupid movies for teenage girls. The REALLY cool movies have Sho Kosugi excercising REAL ULTIMATE POWER. Sho Kosugi goes through trials that would make Leonardo De Caprio weep ( and by weep, I mean unabashedly crying ones eyes out) like a little a girl.
On the sweetness scale (logarhythimic like the richter), Leondardo barely registers at 3.3, while Sho Kosugi gets like 100 million billion million quadrillion.

Coen Brothers:
The Big Lebowski is one of my favorites. "You're being very unDude"!
Just saw the Man who wasn't there. Yes, it's low key and that's what it was meant to be. I liked it.
Hudsucker, Raising Arizona, and Barton Fink are also in my collection. I love Hudsucker for the goof it did on those late thirties, early forties movies (My Girl Friday).
O' Brother, Simple, Fargo and Miller's crossing were good, but not on the level of the others. One thing I will say is the Coens do a great job casting there films.

I agree. What Hollywood has forgotten is that it's not scary looking monsters that are frightening it's STORY telling. Look at Blairwitch, scared the crap out of me. Then look at the Haunting. Millions of dollars spent on huge special effects and incredibly intricate sets. And about 69 cents spent on a script someone left lying around in a coffee shop in dump water california.

I think it's a special quality in a guy to admit they've cried because of a movie!! Just goes to show they've actually USED their MIND  and thought about things--maybe even gone so far as to put themselves in anothers shoes.
Too many people are all "me me me me" these days. *mumbles... creedy bastards that need a new :moon:-hole ripped*. Too many people only care about themselves and not about the people around them. *shrug* They're missing out on a lot--in my opinion.
So! Guys! Points in my book for admitting something like that ;) Trust me. you'll get points in other women's books for that too!
Then eventually the woman would say, "You're such a damn overemotional crybaby! I want a real man! I'm sick of your damn crying! Who's the one with PMS anyway?!?!". :p
Then you breakup and the woman hooks up with a "real man" who beats her and tells her what she can and can't wear. After 4 months and several bruises, she gets the gumption to leave him and come crawling back to you. By that time you have gotten over her and are looking for someone else but she sucks you back in with those puppy dog eyes, that bottle of "Chocolate Butt Sauce" in her right hand, and the cat o nine tails in her left.
After 2 months of initial make up sex and acting like all is right with the world again, you go to see a sappy movie and she notices you didn't cry. When she asks you why, you tell her you have repressed a large portion of your emotions for fear of the people you love not being able to cope with it and leaving you alone. Then she thinks you can't trust her with your innermost feelings and the next thing you know, she's accusing you of cheating on her.
So 6 months and countless dollars in therapy later...

Dont jump!
A Texan went into the big city up North for the first time.
After strolling around the downtown area for a while, he happened to look up and see a man at the top of a tall building. The man looked like he was ready to jump off.
Concerned about the man's fate, the Texan immediately started thinking of things he could tell the man so that he would want to live and would not jump.
"Remember your wife," yelled the Texan. "She divorced me," said the man.
"Remember your children," yelled the Texan. "They ran away," said the man.
"Remember your parents," yelled the Texan. "They are dead," said the man.
"Remember the Alamo," yelled the Texan.
"What is the Alamo?" inquired the man.
"Jump, you Yankee Sumbitch!" replied the Texan.

If i cry it's not over something dumb like Leonardo dying at the end of Titanic. It'll be over something epic and sweeping like the knight dying at the end of Bergman's Seventh Seal.

Women think Richard Simmons is in touch with his emotions too. It doesn't mean they want to sleep with him.
Admit it, women want a guy who's gonna give 'em a good spankin' when they've been bad! Real men don't cry. *spank, spank, spank*
hehe naw, amazingly I've had very little relationship problems. I get along great with all my x-girlfriends; I never understood why people develop a seething hatred for people they claim to have loved.
That little rant was just an improvisation. :p

The only acceptable movie for a guy to cry over is.......
"Brian's Song"
Tears still come to my eye.
