yo, I loaded UT onto my computer and it works OK but when I try and change the resolution the game freezes...WHY! any help would be appreciated.
(and btw it's not because my computer is rubbish, my computer can run UT2004 smoothly)

Probably a driver issue. Try editing your resolution in unrealtournament.ini instead of while the game is open.

That probably *is* the reason why because UT was designed to run on older machines with older software. Which is also why I'm not a big advocate of buying a new computer *just* to play a new game that has hit the shelves!. lol And I also have too much fun playing the older games!!11!. :D
You're no doubt also running WinXPiece of **** SP2? I've heard that SP2 broke a few things with UT but I'm not sure what or how to fix them except to roll back to SP1 which has security issues. Well SP2 has security issues and so will SP3 if one ever comes out! lol
Good luck!

Oh! Sorry! That would be Service Pack 2. Those little updates you get from the Windows update website years after they've discovered a crucial breakdown of security and only after millions of people have become victim to the security flaw does Microsoft do anything about it! lol Hehee!
Hope this helps

Thats funny, years after. They know about these before their release. Its actually not a flaw at all. They are purposely created so you can pay someone that has become MCSE certified, etc, to fix a problem. Or if you are a smarter one, you go and buy the software that one of the MS programmers created, incognito, to defeat these problems or.....

Static, which 3D drivers are you using for UT? Direct 3d? Open GL?
Also, which res do you try to switch to when it crashes? anything specific? or just any at all?

the game freezes when i try changing the resolution to anything and I am using Direct3D.
Edit: I tried changing it to 3DFX Glide but UT appeared in a window and I could only change the resolution to 800 by 600 (which was the biggest on the list) :hammer: but the game didn't freeze :p
Edit's Edit: It's ok, I changed it to open glide and it worked ok!
thanks people
