This is your chance to get a free Unreal Tournament server.

The Net Gamer is an established, well-respected server host in the Half Life community. Up until now, we have been content to focus solely on that server platform. However, we now feel it is time to branch out into the Unreal Tournament community. To that end, we need the assistance of three clans to help us get up to speed on the ins and outs of the Unreal Tournament server platform.

These are the criteria we will use to select the three clans to each receive a free server:

1) You must be an active, established clan with several members.

2) Your clan must be currently competing in at least two competitive leagues.

3) You and your clan must be able to keep the server occupied and busy most of the day with actual players (not bots).

4) You must make yourself available to provide us regular feedback on the operation of the server.

Please note that this is not an open-ended commitment on our part. There will come a time when you will be given a choice as to whether you wish to keep the server and pay for it, or have your free server shut down. However, assuming you are able to meet the prior four criteria on an ongoing basis, the period of time you can enjoy a free server will not be shorter than six weeks.

You may indicate your intention to earn one of our three servers here in this thread, however, only applications received by email will be considered. Apply for the open slots via email to ng.owner@thenetgamer.com . We suggest that you spend some time on that email to make your case as to why your clan should be selected. Your requests for consideration must be received by midnight CDT, Friday, June 28th. The free servers will all be brought up on Saturday, June 29th.

For those of you who are interested, the servers will run off of a Dual P3 1GHz rig. The Internet connection is a 100 Megabit Ethernet to fiber link. Ping 66.28.23.65 (our router) to get an idea of your latency. More about The Net Gamer can be learned here: www.thenetgamer.com .

Good Luck!

It's going to be hard finding clans that can meet that commitment. We've got a huge community here and our 2nd server isn't even full all the time.

Nice deal..clans get a free server for a little while; you get either a paying customer after a few weeks or if you open up the servers to the public, servers that are 'known' because the clans have already publicized them for you.

hehe..does the A$$ clan meet those criteria? *snicker*

There are only a handful of applications for these three servers. There is still time to stake your claim on one of them.

Send us an email stating in detail why you should get a free server. The best, most comprehensive requests will be selected. Who knows ... if you make your case well, you might just get one!!

Possibly because any clan than can meet your requirements already has the resources to have a server?
