i'm currently writing a 4000 word essay comparing these two books and parallels they have with society at the time in which they were written. Has anyone else written anything along these lines or has some general insight into this topic? Tis due in pretty damn soon, had to prioritise and do this psychological study into how IQ estimates are related to gender first.

Bah, at least the holidays start on friday

Yeah; did something similar back in high school.

I found that many ideas can be found in looking at other papers dealing with an author's motivation. The problem with those is that their are really just theories, none of which are your own. That is not a very good method of working, as views tend to be rather tinted (by the author so the author doesn't look like a dunce. :p)

Thankfully our teacher recommended looking up biographies of the authors. The biographies definately helped a bit, but she left out a useful source; history. Try to cross reference with newsbits, history books, encylopedia articles, etc.

Oh! Don't forget to write down ALL of your sources, as it is a pain to try finding that one little factoid later on when you can't totally recal it. ;)

I believe Spell Check gives you a word count, amongst other statistics, in Microsoft Word.

yea word counts handy, had to aim for between 3500-4500 for this essay

word counts under tools, it tells you the number of words, characters and paragraphs i think
