I'm trying to make some of my own maps for U2XMP but i run into a problem- even though i place the player start near a surface, i always get a player start error.

Can anybody point me in the right direction? I've looked at several tutorials, but no matter what i try i get this Could Not Find Starting point' error message in the Unrealed v3.0

Thanks in advance...

xmp is somewhat unique from the other ut games. instaead of a player start what u need are deploy points, 1 for each team ( must manually set team 0 and 1 from 255). Other wise you get a nasty error, alos never copy past nrg sources, just bad news. Easy to copy and paste those deploys from another map into yours.

here is a link to a good tutorial. its utxmp but the pricipals are the same.

http://wiki.beyondunreal.com/wiki/Mapping_For_UTXMP

wiki has all the resources you may need. Do note the u2xmp is nearly dead, and has no master server. i would suggest to go with utxmp.

Thank you so much for that information.

In regards to the U2XMP servers being down- they are up periodically (been up for the last month, but not up now). In addition, servers are listed on Gamespy Arcade (download this great player matching system at: http://www.gamespyarcade.com/download/). Download the basic edition of gamespy- it's free. It will scan your computer for any multiplayer games and provide a lobby and launcher for them. It has a really good U2XMP area. Anybody running an U2XMP server will be listed here.

Also- you can download a file with a bunch of bookmarked servers that you can connect regardless of if the master servers are up or down. Contact me if you want that file.

There are many U2XMP guilds active and running, probably hundreds of players. There are enough right now to keep about 3 servers filled non-stop (that's about 36-40 players on at any given time).

I've not played UTXMP (any variation). I've barely got enuf time to play u2XMP, so I'm unlikely to pick up a new game, but thanks for the tip. Hope to see you on the gamespy server!

Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction- I found a bunch of info and more!

Gleefully, I created a new map, placed deploys, rechargers, and artifact node. I got everyting working right. The only problem is that when I play the game solo from the UnrealEd or in 'listen' mode as a server, everything is fine, but if I host a game and players join in they get trapped in the deploy point geometry and can't move. Any suggestions?

Is it only for others downloading? Or, is it the same for yourself when you set a server to listen? Make sure the deploy points are set to a surface and not in one.

make sure you have the loader too
ppl still play this more so then utxmp
but UTXMP is definatly the way to go (except memory useage in UTXMP ed is realy high)

Hey MajorHavoc, would you mind e-mailing me that bookmarked server file? ChvyVele@optonline.net is my email... thanks in advance!
