Am i the only one tired of hearing about the stupid "curse" on the Red Sox? So what if they win the world series. I dont hate them, but ive heard the word "curse" at least 1000+ times in the last week. Face it, its not glorious, its not a "great legacy", if they win, they havnt "beat the curse". The Red Soxs just havnt won a world series championship because they wernt good enough, end of story. And using the "curse" as an excuse that some fat guy who hit a lot of home runs gave them is horrible.


Not saying the red sox are a bad team, they are actually dang good, but the curse doesnt exist, nor did it ever exist. Get over it.

Supposively, since 1918, ( the year Babe Ruth was traded from the Red Sox to the Yankees), the Red Sox havnt won the world series because of a "curse" that was given to them by the Babe.
So, every year when the Red Sox dont win the world series as usual, they blame it on the "curse" that the Babe gave to them, after being angry about being traded.
Its 100% fake, there is no curse, and curses do not exist, nor will they ever. The red sox just havnt been good enough to win a world series since 1918 is all.

To give you the real story behind the curse, read below.


the Legend of the Curse

In 1918 the Red Sox won their 5th World Series, the most by any club at that time. One of the stars of the Boston championship franchise was a young pitcher by the name of George Herman Ruth, aka The Babe or The Bambino.

In 1920, however, Red Sox owner Harry Frazee needed money to finance his girlfriend's play, so he sold Babe Ruth's contract to Colonel Jacob Ruppert's New York Yankees for $100,000 (plus a loan collateralized by Fenway Park).

Since then, the Yankees, who had never won a World Championship before acquiring Ruth, have gone on to win 26, and are arguably one of the greatest success stories in the history of sport.

Meanwhile, the Boston Red Sox have appeared in only four World Series since 1918, losing each one in game seven. Many consider Boston's performance after the departure of Babe Ruth to be attributable to "The Curse of the Bambino."

Bad news....they didn't. This is awful. (For me, anyway, but I bet most of you are thinking YES!) Red Sox....have won the World Series in 2004. At least now, they'd better shut up about 1918, and next year, the target is on them. I really hope that's the last they'll win for a while....argh....

In fact, you can say the Red Sox bought this year's championship because they had the second highest payroll in the MLB, with the Yankees being the first. They beat (well, utterly crushed, sorry Soho :( ) a team with a payroll ~$44 million less than their own.

What does this prove? Money does buy wins. It may not buy championships every year, but it certainly buys a successful franchise. What the Red Sox will do now is go out and fill the holes in their lineup by buying/enticing big-time free agents to their town. They will be competing solely with the Yankees, who finally have some competition worth paying attention to.

Now I have two teams that epitomise why baseball is a horrid, horrid sport. Congrats MLB, you never cease to amaze me.
