Believe it baby. :)

Gotta love King George. Goes out and does whatever it takes to make his fans happy and place the Yanks in good position to win the pennant.

This is one owner who doesn't think owning a baseball team is a hobby for a rich man.

LMFAO, yea it does look like it's going to happen.

Even though I'm a die hard Yank fan and love the thought of adding arguably the best player in baseball to the lineup I have to admit that this just seems wrong......oh I have a grin from ear to ear but still....

This is definitely the most outrageous example of the disparity in finances among clubs. Maybe the straw that breaks the camel's back?

Hating the RedSox like I do, the best part of this is imagining what Lucchino is going through right now. Probably hyperventilating on a verge of a heart attack. Steinbrenner is just slapping him right across the face with this one.

George rocks!

Pretty foolish move. Best thing that could happen around here.

Thanks George.

I don't really think there's such a disparity in money available to teams. I've read in the local NY papers in the past year that supposedly Fred Wilpon (owner of Mets) has MORE money than Steinbrenner. It just seems that most baseball owners look at it as a hobby and try to Scrooge their way to a buck. George seems the only owner that understands if you spend your money and put a great team on the field, the fans will respond (merchandise, YES network, etc.). Yanks have the highest payroll and still probably make more profit than any other team in the league.

Red Sox seem to have caught on. They tried to make a deal happen for A-Rod, went out and got Schilling and Foulke, and I can bet you that baseball up in Beantown is as popular now as it's ever been.

If this doesn't make a stronger case for revenue sharing, I can't think of anything that will.

While some see revenue sharing as a 'Yankee Tax', I think that buying a team makes the playing field uneven. Kind of like when all the UT pros get stacked on one team. No one likes a blowout.

Don't get me wrong, I don't blame the owners for this problem at all. Fault can lie only with the players and mankinds insatiable greed.

On a plus note, for the first time since the Padres trip to the Series in '98, we've been buying instead of selling during the offseason. I'm really liking the way our lineup is shaping up. I wouldn't mind at all being blown out by the Yankess again, I just want to see a Padre game in October. :D

Revenue sharing... From what I understand, the yanks will be "sharing" about 70 million in "luxory tax" to the other teams. Which kinda helps nothing but bank accounts. This game (business) has gone right down the friggin tubes. It's a shame because the game itself is perfect. Bud Selig is utterly useless. "Competitive balance" comes out his mouth, and he approves this crap ass trade. 4-6 teams need to be removed and a salary cap installed. Players can strike for eternity for all I care at this point. Pfffpppppt!!! whatifsports.com-80 million cap.
