So for all the problems in Freelancer I still found the game immensely enjoyable. Enlight has released X2: The Threat which is a follow-up to a game called X: Beyond the Frontier. I have never played that game nor have I much expereience with any space sims other than Freelancer. This game looks as if it's similar to Freelancer.
Anyone have any experience with this game?

i have X and X-Tension. very boring. VERY VERY ameturish. it really feels like an average level mod not a comercial game.
it amuses and frustrates me that there still is not a game anywhere near as good as Frontier Elite 2 a decade on in its genre
so i wont give x2 a try unless it lands nearby without me having to pay for it :)

well if u liked Freelancer alot, u could try out Freespace and Freespace 2 in the bargain bins.
I thought they were great, although their emphasis is less on RPG and more on missions. Plus the beam cannons in the 2nd episode look awesome even till today, to me of course.

X2 got some pretty good reviews from Gamespy and IGN.
