Anyone saw this movie? I thought it was very scary. Very good script, and chilly until the end.

"Before you die, you see The Ring" (http://www.ring-themovie.com/main.html)

"Rather than presenting the audience with blood and gore, The Ring chooses to thrill the mind's eye with quick glimpses and hints of the horror that it depicts." (http://dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=4799)

i really enjoyed the movie.
I love a good horror movie, but have been dissapointed with the current generation of schlock horror pass offs.

I've watched Ringu - there is a LOT in common (ie the US version copies many shots from the original) but I liked the US version better - the special effects used made it better/scarier for me.

I tell you what though, if I had a 13 year old kid, I WOULDNT let them see it! :tsk: But I did like the movie :D

EDIT: FYI- The RIng 2 to be released in 2004

Speaking of scary movies... how about 28 days... never saw it on the big screen and it's out or rent now. As good as people said when it came out?

I would describe more so as DISTURBING than scary....very very disturbing. I left the theatres with a sour taste in my mouth and a lack of appetite. Id reccomend to NOT see this movie with your girl ;)

I couldn't get into 28 days..the entire way through I kept thinking 'Wow what if I got my start in Hollywood by acting like one of those stupid zombies'; the over-quick infection annoyed me too.

Talking about zombies, i just saw the trailer for the re-make of Dawn of the Dead. And let me say that i nearly cried. How can they remake a classic that had nothing wrong with it. Why cant they just rip it off and give it a different name :( fu**ing hopeless hollywood!!!

*edit* And the ring re-make wasnt too bad at all. Considering it was a US remake. Personally, i really liked it compared to the original. The original had an older darker qaulity, but this version i must say really surprised me. No one-liners or cheesy acting.

I wonder if Romero has anything to do with this remake  ?? .....btw - If we ever make a Zombie film . We have to get Emmet Fulci :D He's the King , he knows his Undead from his Evil dead ;) !!!!!!!!! .............ps. i found a used copy of Zombie 3 (12 bucks instead of 32.50 ) :) Not as bad - as i thought it would be ...kinda fun in a dopey movie kinda way !!

Nope.
Here's an interview (http://www.zombiekeeper.com/misc/george_interview.html).

About the new movie, he says:
I don't think it was a good idea, but I got nothing to say about it. They have the rights, they did it, that's the way it is.

I rented 28 Days and was very disappointed. The Ring was very good considering how bad most horror movies are these days.

was 'the ring' discussed in a previous thread?

anyway, i liked it (the theatrical release) quite a bit- it was a good blend of creepy and shock. IMO the best part on the DVD was the (hidden?) entire actual basis for the movie, the killer visual/audio bit itself (3-4min long). it has this wicked hair-raising quality that never becomes gruesome but fully creeps you out anyway. i watched that thing about 10 times over. i want to make art like that.

i liked the outtakes on the DVD. i think the director should put those bits into a directors cut. makes it much more disturbing, esp the extended scene with the mother and daughter near the well. evil wrong.

I thought the ring was a pretty good show. It really never scared me, but it was good for suspense.

I talked to a friend of mine that lived in Hong Kong and they said that the other version was better.

As for scary movies.. one that creeped me out was The Mothman Prophecies. That one freaked me out a bit due to the actual events.

"The movie is based on events real and reported in Point Pleasant in 1966, and 1967, and novelised in 1975 by the man one writer has called 'the Indiana Jones of the Paranormal', John A. Keel."

They are due to start shooting The Ring 2 next month.

It's funny, I thought that they filmed The Ring where I work, but I can't find any record of it.

Spider-Man 2 is occupying a couple of stages right now.
Wish I could take pictures, but I like my job. :)

Yeah!, Mothman Prophecies was kinda eerie!
I liked that flick a lot.

ring: great scary movie

ringu: great scary movie...in japanese

28 days later: severe plot holes, but still a cool disturbing zombie-esque romp. I liked it.

--Idle, plans on ganking all 3...thank you netflix

I watched it with my girlfriend some days ago. I'll have to rethink watching it with girls of her type, because it really, REALLY scared the sh*t out of her... She wouldn't even dare turning a tv on the next couple of days. :p

Back when I was a kid, I loved scary movies. The Exorcist, and otheres that have been forgotten atm, but as an adult only two movies have ever given me the creeps. Event Horizon and The Ring.
I still need to se Solaris.
Did any one who saw Event Horizon notice the Captain's Chair? The movie is set a couple centuries in the future, but there's a prominent tear on the seat that's been duct taped. lol LMAO! I love stuff like that.
