Got the extended version of The Two Towers on DVD today, was pretty impressed by the new scenes. In my oppinion the film is better to watch now.
Couldn't help but laugh when Treebeard declares they have just finished saying good morning when its the middle of the night
Good extras too. Anyone else seen it?

No fair, i have to watch it on the wrong aspect so i get a horrible letterbox effect or a horrible stretched effect. And the audio comentary wont play, i figure you need surround sound to hear it.
Great film none the less though
so angry...

The Sony VPL-HS3 you can pick up for around AU $3500... not sure how much that is in US dollars... about $2500 US, very roughly.
Other brands are cheaper. You'd be able to pick up a relatively decent one for say $1500 US. We chose a Sony cause all the rest of our gear is Sony too. :D The only thing that isn't Sony in our lounge room is the DVD (Philips), and that's only because I won it in a competition...

lol, so you're the on who's been keeping Sony in business all these years! they woulda went under an age ago otherwise!
anyway, thats kinda pricey lol, perhaps i'll wait a few years before i get my home cinema cos a grand or so is just not the sorta money i can fork out for somethin like that. tbh, i'd rather get an uber computer...or just a great gfx card cos my system is not exactly shabby atm apart frm my Fx5200

I watched the first disk last night, and I think the movie flows alot better with the new scenes. The scene where Gandalf is talking to Aragorn about Sauron hearing rumors of the heir of Numenor is key, and I don't understand why that was taken out of the theatric release.
I mean other than the theatric release weighed in at close to 3 hours I mean.
On the other hand, I do see why Treebeard's song of the Entwives was cut. I was hoping we be spared from that, much like we were spared from Tom Bombadil.

I bought my tree yesterday. It's still undecorated though.
